Eat your greens! 😅Posted • This is the first human study to show that babies exposed to the compounds in certain vegetables in the womb tend to be happy to eat them later! Animal studies already show this and I always tell my clients about these but this is such a brilliant advert for eating greens🥦🥬

I had to share this as just talked about this today ✨• I’ve always admired .holistic.psychologist work, and love how she highlights the importance of protein for nervous system regulation. Let me break down the science behind it. Swipe to learn more 🧠

Protein is packed with amino acids, which are the building blocks for neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine—critical for balancing mood and stress.

When you don’t get enough protein, your body may struggle to shift out of a “fight or flight” state, keeping your nervous system on high alert.

By including more high-quality protein in your diet, you can help stabilize your blood sugar, support your brain, and create a sense of calm.

Had to share this great post from • This is one of the big reasons why gut health is so important! The gut-brain axis is a prime example of how profoundly interconnected our body systems are.

Everything is connected.

The gut, often referred to as our “second brain,” plays a pivotal role in regulating mental health. Here’s a big reason why: Up to 90% of serotonin, the neurotransmitter responsible for mood balance, is produced in the gut.

This is not just a fascinating fact—it’s a call to pay attention to what’s happening with our digestion as part of our mental health story. Dysbiosis, inflammation, and other gut disturbances can impact serotonin production, directly influencing how we feel, think, and cope with the world around us.

For those of us already aware of how interconnected our systems are, this reinforces what we already know… the answers to some of our most persistent health challenges often lie in the places or in practices we least expect.

Gut health is mental health.

When we nourish our gut, we nourish our mind.

We can continue to explore these connections with more curiosity and intention.

Where have you discovered unexpected insights or breakthroughs in your health journey that challenged what you initially thought? Care to share? Please do!

Had to share this as it’s so good! • The female reproductive tract contains 13-14 different carotenoids, especially those found in orange foods. Carotenoids like beta-carotene are important for the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, and give the corpus luteum its yellowish color.

Here’s an interesting repost from P@functionalfertility that I thought would highlight perfectly why we sometimes want to take supplements (and eat a healthy diet!)
I recently recommended a prenatal vitamin, CoQ10, and antioxidant blend to one of my fertility patients. I got notes from her other provider, who wrote, ”Supplements are fine but unnecessary, just eat a healthy diet.”

I thought it would be an interesting exercise to highlight some fertility-boosting nutrients that are hard to get from food sources alone!

Also FOR THE RECORD, I had a nutrition degree before I became a doctor, and I am a steadfast believer in food as medicine. But there is a time and place for targeted supplementation that gives you a boost of nutrition to reach a specific goal. I think supporting your fertility doing your preconception planning period is a great example of responsibly using supplementation WHILE YOU ALSO eat a nutrient rich diet.

Posted • It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and this is the kind of study we love to see.

These findings were attributed to changes observed in the gut microbiome, driven by cocoa’s prebiotic effects, which likely influenced mood via the gut-brain axis. Interestingly the results were not significant with 70% cocoa chocolate, so the darker the better.

Lovely news from a client who was considering moving house to get to a postcode where she can get more than 1 round of IVF with the NHS. She did a lot of work within her diet and lifestyle and got naturally pregnant before doing IVF 😍✅ What great news to my week ❤️
