Our beautiful, darling Elsa left us on Friday , we are all utterly heartbroken. Although I knew we were on borrowed time, nothing prepares you for the thudding grief and massive massive shaped Elsa hole she has left in our hearts 💔 She wasn’t just a dog, she was very much part of our family. She’s been my best friend, my soul mate for 16 years. She’s unconditionally loved all of us and walked by my side through some very dark times, she was always my float, my loving companion and I feel completely lost now that’s she gone. Will be coming off social media for a while to spend some time with my family and come to terms with a life without her in it anymore. My heart knows she is at peace and happy that she got to have 3 very happy months living by the sea ♥️Love you always Elsie B♥️###xx

Your nervous system can get stuck in a state of overload or dysregulation - especially if you’re living in a constant state of stress of have unresolved trauma.

It can become really difficult to shift out of this state even if the source of stress or trauma is no longer present.

With these symptoms commonly present:
✨Sleep issues
✨Difficulty regulating emotions
✨Feeling disconnected or numb
✨Chronic or long term physical pain
✨Sensory sensitivity
✨Gut issues
✨Brain fog
✨Constantly feeling overwhelmed
✨Tired but wired
✨Hyper activity and/or frequent dissociation

The good news is that your nervous system is also very resilient and adaptable and with some gentle guidance, can be reset

Somatic exercise, getting out in nature, mindfulness and mindful movement can all help shift your nervous system out of a dysregulated state

As you release the stress, trauma and tension out of your body , you’ll begin to feel calmer both physically and emotionally

You’ll notice yourself re-emerging out of emergency mode & feel your focus and energy coming back

You will find sleep comes more easily and you won’t be using numbing activities of an evening

Regulating your nervous system , can be done and when it happens it’s like hitting the reset button on your life.

Your body is self-healing, but it needs some guidance to get out of its habitual stress response first:

Contrary to some self-help book you’ve read, you don’t have to wake at 5 a.m and meditate for an hour to feel calm & restored

Infact if you’ve tried that and it’s made you feel more exhausted than ever, please know it’s not because your lazy or inconsistent

It’s actually because it’s not how ‘YOUR BODY’ wants you to do things

NEWSFLASH… Just because it works for her doesn’t mean it will work for you

You are a completely unique human being

Think about it: you’re actually a night owl and she’s a morning kinda of girl, or maybe your kids have had you up 3 times in the night and she doesn’t have any kids, or she’s self-employed and is more flexible than your 10
hour day plus a commute!

Maybe you’re better in the evenings or lunchtime

Maybe you’re meditation is going for a walk or dancing round the kitchen to your favourite tunes rather than sitting trying to say ‘OM’ for an hour

IT DOESN’T MAKE YOU WRONG, it just makes you, YOU

So, if you’ve followed the latest you-tube guru or bought another online DIY wellness course and don’t actually feel better for it, THEN know you’re body is trying to tell you something

I want to ask you this: Do you think it’s time you start listening to the nudges your body is giving you?

We need to stop and ask ourselves, WHY do we feel the need to be so busy? 👇

The truth might be that our incessant urge to be more productive, is actually an avoidance tactic to help us cope.

Keeping busy is actually a powerful way to avoid our thoughts and feelings.

For us to process our life experiences, difficult emotions, we have to FEEL the feelings; the only way out is to push through and avoid!

Please don’t give yourself a hard time here, many of us just weren’t given the toolkit to navigate difficult emotions growing up BUT they are skills that we can learn. I’ll be sharing some ways for you over the coming days ♥️

REMEMBER … we can use rest as a path to a living a more meaningful life, doing less but living more ♥️
