International Day of Peace or Peace Day is this Sunday, 21st September
🕊️

As above so below. We begin with establishing peace and harmony in our own beings which then permeates to all our interactions with beings around us.

Start from a place of self-compassion, empathy and nonviolence in all communications.

My life has and is being changed by study of nonviolence. I highly recommend Marshall Rosenberg’s book, Non-Violent Communication, “What We Say Matters” by Judith Hanson Lasater and in the uk https://www.empathymatters.net

Thank you for inspiring my yoga journey with these spoken words.

Ground your body and tune into your breath; find your peace to radiate to those who can’t find theirs right now 🙏

We don’t roll out our mat to perfect poses — we practice to soften into life, especially as it shifts and surprises us.

How has yoga helped you off the mat?👇Please share in the comments. I’d love to hear.

A stretched or worn elastic band will most likely tear or even break if more strain is added.
💪 Our muscles are the same.
Tight muscles can come from high stress and anxiety as well as constant use.
Chronic muscle tightness can lead to a spiral of other symptoms and imbalances that sometimes drive us to seek external support 🍷 💊 🥼 📺
Relief comes from spending significant time relaxing and softening the mind and muscles first ❤️ practices such as mindfulness, meditation and somatic yoga are all tools that can help.

Happy Yoga Day & Summer Solstice ☀️🎇

Come to class tomorrow at 7pm? You don’t need any special kit- just a mat if you have one.

You could bring/ suggest to someone who you know need help to get out of their thoughts and into their body.

Yoga isn’t simply physical exercise; it’s a system for mental physical and emotional wellbeing that has worked for centuries and still does today 👍

The practice of yoga asana (postures) is to settle the body; to find comfortable stillness.

You might have discomfort from heavy physical work or from sitting or standing in the same position for a long time. Driving, camping, working…

Either way the ancient yoga asana are aimed at healing exactly this-life’s effects on the body-and in doing so finding ease in postures, ease the mind and peace in the heart.

There is no such thing as a perfect pose. The point of practice is to practice, not perfect. If you are focusing on the end goal, you will never feel satisfied because your practice will always be practice. Find joy in the moment, find joy in that time on your mat. Stay present. That's where you'll find the light. ✨️
“Do not aim at perfection. Practice is a process of evolution. It is impossible to attain perfection, but by constant practice one can improve.” B.K.S. Iyengar ✨️
