There are 2 main forms of joint arthriris - osteoarthritis and systemic inflammatory arthritis, both of which has a different pathological cause. Osteoarthritis is a progressive cartilage degenerative condition, whereas inflammatory arthritis is a systemic autoimmune cause, causing joint synovitis (inflammation of the joint lining). Both conditions are treated differently.
