"It’s not easy to let someone you hardly know into your life and home at the precious and vulnerable time of postpartum. Yet, Stefania made me feel comfortable, understood and taken care of from the very beginning and at every step. She is empathetic, a great listener and has a wealth of knowledge about birth, babies and breastfeeding. Having her around was reassuring and calming and it made me trust myself more. She offered emotional support, tidied our flat, offered support with breastfeeding and cooked the most delicious and nutritious meals for us. I recommended Stefania to all my friends - having a postpartum doula support is the best gift you can give yourself and others in this special time.
I didn’t know what closing the bones ritual was until I read about it on Stefania’s website. She brought the rebozo fabrics and all other items for the ritual to my home and transformed our living room into a little sanctuary. There are so few rituals in our society that properly mark and celebrate the transition to motherhood and “closing the bones” does that. It was a really unique and moving experience and I would really recommend it to anyone who is looking to process all the changes that happen in our mind and body as we move from pregnancy, birth and into matrescence."

Thank you Mela for your lovely testimonial! It's been a privilege for me to be welcomed into your home and an honor to be by your side during this special time! ❤️

Time for a reintroduction! ☺️

Hi everyone, and thank you for following my profile! I am a postpartum doula, breastfeeding counsellor and perinatal yoga teacher but I haven't always been!

I have worked as a nurse in intensive care for a decade before leaving nursing in spring 2024. My life has dramatically changed in the last year: I retrained and quit my nursing job to support new mothers and families in the postpartum, lost my dad, went through severe relationship challenges, left the big city and moved to a rural setting one hour south of Edinburgh to live a slower life in contact with nature, took my children out of school and began the exciting journey of home education, and began a tough and intense journey of personal healing that will be a lifelong one!

This profile was set up to help me share about my new business, but over time it became a mix of things...

I have to admit I'm not the biggest fan of social media...so content will come in slowly and sporadically, when I'm not too busy supporting new families or looking after my own.

So what will you find in it??

A bit about my doula work and testimonials which may help families that are looking for that kind of support, a bit about me and my personal journey so you can get to know me, a bit about our home ed journey, recipes and things that I like doing with my family, and sometimes some more vulnerable posts when I feel ready to share about the hardest times, which may help someone else going through similar things...

Wild medicine🌹

There is a saying that roses are good for "the skin and the soul", and they have a long tradition of medicinal use.

We are learning to reconnect with nature for health, wellbeing and healing...

We are lucky to have big bushes of wild rose in our garden and today we decided to enjoy its fruits in the form of jam!

Rose hips are the fruit produced by the rose once it's finished blooming. These small red fruits of the rosebush are super healthy! They are one of the most concentrated sources of Vitamin C!

In fact, it is said, it was the fruit in which this vitamin was first discovered, which is no surprise as they are very rich in this nutrient!

One tablespoon of this rosehip jam can cover your daily need for this vitamin. They also contain high levels of Vitamin E, B, and K and are full of antioxidants.

Therefore, in the cold and flu season, rosehips are a natural way to strengthen the immune system, as vitamin C is essential for its proper functioning.

Do you want to try it?

🔺Harvest about 2 kg of rose hips, being mindful to leave at least 2/3 behind. You can cut the leafy tips (or not, as you'll strain the jam before jarring).

🔺In a big pot, bring to hard boil a little bit of water with the rose hips. Then reduce the heat and add the juice of a squeezed 1/2 lemon and sugar to taste.

🔺Cook for about 1 hour.

🔺In the meantime, you can sterilize some jam jars with your preferred method.
(I put jars and lids in the oven 180 degress C for about 15 minutes after washing with hot soapy water)

🔺When the jam is ready, strain it and jar it!

Enjoy!

Just landed home for my brother's wedding!

I'm feeling so excited and emotional...

This is the first time I have come back home since my dad died almost exactly one year ago...
I remember reading a book about holding space while flying home last year to spend the last few days with my dad and sharing a post about a caterpillar's metamorphosis into butterfly and about surrendering and trusting.

I didn't yet know what challenges I was about to face over the following year and, gosh, I've had to trust and surrender so much! I haven't been able to share about my private life events this past year on social media yet, but those of you who follow me will have noticed I have suddenly gone very quiet and stopped posting my usual posts about recipes and doulaing...life has been happening and it's been very intense!

Walking into my parents' bedroom today, where my dad passed away last year, has suddenly brought back a big wave of strong emotions, painful memories and grief. So much has changed in my life in one year!

Life is so intense and raw and beautiful and I'm feeling so grateful for it all, the beauty, the love, the pain, the healing!

"Stefania is a true angel, everyone deserves & needs the postpartum support she offers. It truly transformed my view on the postpartum period after dreading it second time around. I actually would do it all over again and pray Stefania would be available once more! She supported my homebirth and actually caught my daughter! Sitting with me for hours after the birth, it was the support I knew I would need, and her calm soothing presence was just golden.

Stefania’s visits became a firm favourite with my son, playing with him, providing the most delicious home-cooked meals, helping me keep on top of the house & rest. Also providing closing of the bones ceremony, which is a very special gift to receive, the space is held with such delicacy and care. When she enters your home it is with such deep respect and wisdom to the role she is about to take on, I would recommend her to everyone I meet who wishes to experience a nourishing, gentle postpartum being cared for by one of the best." Nadia

I don't regularly support births but the journey with this mama and her family has been truly special, working with her from late pregnancy and being by her side during a powerful and magical free birth. We've worked together for a few months postpartum and I cherish in my heart the special bond we have created! 🙏🏼❤️

You are the medicine

"Heal yourself with the light of the sun and the rays of the moon,
With the sound of the river and the waterfall,
With the swaying of the seas and the fluttering of birds.

Heal yourself with mint, neem and eucalyptus,
Sweeten with lavender, rosemary and chamomile.

Hug yourself with the cocoa bean and a hint of cinnamon,
Put love in tea instead of sugar, and drink it looking at the stars.

Heal yourself with the kisses that the wind gives you and the embrace of the rain.
Stand strong with your bare feet on the ground and with everything that comes from it.

Be smarter every day by listening to your intuition, looking at the world with your forehead.
Jump, dance, sing so that you live happier.

Heal yourself with beautiful love and always remember:
You are the medicine."

- Maria Sabina, Mexican curandera and poet
