Our lovely residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon watching The Sound of Music!🎼🏔️
Smiles, singing along, and plenty of cherished memories filled the room.
It’s amazing how a classic like this can brighten everyone’s day.

🌟 Celebrating Angela Carlin 🌟

This week we say a heartfelt thank you and a fond goodbye to the incredible Angela Carlin, who is retiring after an amazing 31 years with CrossReach, Angela's last day with us will be this Thursday.

Angela’s commitment, compassion, and unwavering support have touched the lives of countless families over the years. The difference she has made is truly second to none. Her kindness, patience, and dedication have left a lasting legacy.

Angela, thank you for every moment you’ve given, every family you’ve supported, and every heart you’ve lifted. You leave behind a community full of gratitude and respect CrossReach The Elms will not be the same with out you.

Wishing you a retirement filled with joy, rest, and all the things that make you happiest. You deserve it more than anyone. 💛

🎶 A Musical Day Out! 🎶

Last week our residents enjoyed a wonderful outing to St Cecilia's Hall: Concert Room & Music Museum , where they took a guided tour of the beautiful music museum. From historic instruments to fascinating stories, everyone had a fantastic time exploring and learning.

To make the visit even more special, the lovely team there surprised us with a warm cuppa tea at the end, which our residents absolutely loved! ☕

A big thank you to the staff at St Cecilia’s Hall for such a warm and engaging visit! 🎻

Join us on Friday 5th December 2025 at the beautiful St Paul’s & St George’s Church, Edinburgh, where voices will join together in song and story for a magical evening of festive music and celebration in support of CrossReach.

This event is not only the perfect way to begin the festive season, but also a night to celebrate the inspiring work of CrossReach and the difference we make in communities across Scotland. As a fundraising event, all ticket sales will go directly towards supporting CrossReach’s vital services. On the night, you can also take part in a raffle, browse the incredible talents of our Heart for Art sale, and pick up unique gifts and trading goods — all helping to raise even more for our services.

Family and Friends 🎄🎅🏻

We’re delighted to invite you to The Elms Christmas Party on Sunday, 21 December, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm!
Join us for an afternoon of festive fun with live music starting at 2:00 pm, delicious food and drinks, and a special visit from Santa, who’ll be handing out gifts to anyone who’d like to see him.
This event is open to all ages! We’d love for you to bring along as many friends and family members as you’d like. It’s always wonderful to see the home filled with laughter, music, and familiar faces celebrating together. No need to RSVP, but feel free to let us know how many people you're planning on bringing along.

There’s nothing quite like the smell (and taste!) of freshly made apple cider! Our residents rolled up their sleeves, pressed some crisp apples, and created their very own batches of cider this today. 🍏
The results? Pure autumn perfection — warm, cozy, and absolutely delicious! 🍂🍁

Nothing better than a fresh, chilly autumn walk along the meadows to Uplands Roast — rewarded with the most delicious hot chocolate at the end! 🍫☕🌿

Last week our residents enjoyed a delightful non-alcoholic wine tasting session — complete with elegant glasses and laughter
We paired the drinks with a selection of delicious appetisers, making it a true tasting experience. Everyone had a wonderful time exploring new flavours, sharing memories, and enjoying each other’s company. 🍷🧀

Our residents had a fantastic time getting creative— painting pumpkins with beautiful designs and sharing lots of lovely chats along the way.
There was so much concentration and attention to detail as everyone brought their artistic ideas to life — and the results were amazing!

Last week one of our residents enjoyed a lovely trip out — picking some beautiful fresh flowers and stopping for a relaxing coffee along the way ☕💐
When they returned, everyone joined in to help arrange the flowers into vases for our lounges. Now the whole home is filled with colour, fragrance, and smiles! 💐

This week we rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into some serious baking — delicious homemade biscuits and classic shortbread! The smell alone had everyone smiling… but as good as it was to make them, eating them was even better! 👩‍🍳🍪

This week, our lovely residents spent a cosy afternoon knitting and having a natter over cups of tea. From scarves in progress to stories shared, it was a heartwarming reminder of the joy in simple moments
Whether they’re seasoned knitters or just along for the chat, everyone enjoyed themselves
