Welcome to Natalia, our new North West regional rep 👏🏼🎉

“My name is Natalia Da Costa, and I am a Specialty Doctor in Oral Surgery at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, covering the North Manchester, Rochdale, and Fairfield sites. I currently run both local and general anaesthetic lists, providing a wide range of oral surgery procedures to our community.

I recently completed my DClinDent in Oral Surgery at Queen Mary University of London, and I am looking forward to becoming an Oral Surgeon in the future.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, exploring new places, and spending time with family and friends.

I am delighted to be one of your Regional Representatives!”

As an association wishing to ensure the best possible delivery of oral surgery care nationwide we support the development of a single, nationally consistent Tier 2 Oral Surgery accreditation framework across England and Wales.

To achieve this aim we have developed national guidance for Tier 2 accreditation in Oral Surgery, together with supporting documentation, to define the standards, competencies and governance expectations required for consistent implementation. These materials are designed to support commissioners, Managed Clinical Networks (MCNs) and providers in delivering a robust, transparent and competency-based approach.

Follow the link here, or in our bio, to for more information and read the full guidance and accompanying documents, such as WBAs, model reflective logs, and much more! ➡️ https://api.ripl.com/s/a154nb

Meet our new president, Professor Adrian Thorp! 🥳

“For those unfamiliar with my background, I am an oral surgeon specialising currently in Community Dental Services, where I am currently Clinical Director. But my career has focused on both primary and community care, now serving populations with limited access to dental services”

Adrian brings extensive experience to his new role as BAOS president, being involved with curriculum development, supporting NICE on the DPF panel, assessing specialist list applications for the GDC, and acting as an expert witness for the Dental Defence Union!

Adrian also currently chairs the Oral Surgery Dental Specialist Fellowship Examination and is committed to service development, education, and advancing sustainable, patient-centred oral surgery through collaboration with commissioners and professional bodies 🦷
