A great few days at the 2026 BAOS annual conference 🎉

It’s been a valuable opportunity to learn, share ideas, and reconnect with colleagues across the oral surgery community 🤝 The programme delivered a strong mix of insightful talks and practical discussions, with plenty to take back into practise!

Congratulations to everyone involved in the open papers and poster presentations; the standard was excellent, and it was encouraging to see such high quality work on display 👏🏼

Thank you to the organisers, speakers, and delegates for making it such a well-run and engaging event 🙌🏼

Looking forward to next year in London! 🏙️

It’s wonderful to see one of our BAOS council members, Prof Kate Taylor, speaking about difficulties with access to NHS dental services in the North West of England and its potential impact on delayed oral cancer diagnosis!

Oral cancer screening is always a clinician’s top priority when seeing patients and those working in oral surgery play a crucial role in the diagnostic process 🔬

We hope Kate’s appearance will raise public awareness about oral cancer and the services available to patients with concerns 👏🏼

Welcome to Aaron, our new DCT/Junior trainee rep 👏🏼🎉

“Hi, my name is Aaron, and I can’t wait to get started in my new role as DCT/Junior Representative.

Since graduating from the University of Liverpool, I’ve worked across a range of roles — from Community Dentistry in Wolverhampton to Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Aintree Hospital in Liverpool. I’m currently based at Arrowe Park Hospital in the Wirral.

I’m extremely passionate about Oral Surgery and look forward to meeting more colleagues at the Conference in Birmingham next year. I’m also a keen academic, with a recent publication on complications linked to new antidiabetic drugs — aiming to raise awareness within dentistry.

As part of the committee, I hope to maintain and strengthen the strong connection between junior members and the wider society. I plan to be approachable, proactive, and creative in helping our society continue to grow and move forward.

Outside of work, my main passion is fitness and sport. I love running and have recently completed the Chicago, Copenhagen, and Berlin Marathons — next year’s goal is to keep getting faster!”
