Humanistic Therapy is all about understanding you as a whole person — not just a diagnosis or a set of symptoms. Rooted in empathy and personal growth, it creates space for real self-exploration.

Here are 3 key facts:

- It focuses on the whole person — exploring thoughts, feelings and lived experience, not just problems.

- The therapist offers a warm, non-judgemental and empathetic environment where you can feel truly heard.

- It’s based on the belief that we all have an innate capacity for growth and change when given the right support.

Start by being kind to yourself - low mood and depression are health issues, not personal failings. Focus on small basics like regular sleep, eating well and gentle movement.

Try to stay connected to people you trust, and avoid relying on alcohol.

If things feel overwhelming, speak to your GP or a mental health professional. In the meantime, free self-help tools such as mood tracking and breathing exercises can offer some immediate support. 🌟

Burnout is usually caused by prolonged stress, particularly when there’s little recovery time.

Common triggers include excessive workload, lack of control, unclear expectations, ongoing pressure to perform, and poor work–life balance.

Over time, constant stress without proper rest or boundaries can lead to emotional exhaustion, reduced motivation and a sense of detachment - key signs of burnout.

A counsellor typically offers short-term support for specific challenges such as grief or relationship difficulties.

A therapist (or psychotherapist) often works longer term, using structured approaches like CBT to address deeper patterns. A psychologist has doctoral-level training and can carry out psychological assessments alongside therapeutic work.

Sessions usually last around 50 minutes and provide a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings. Your therapist listens without judgement, helps identify unhelpful patterns, and introduces practical, evidence-based strategies to support positive change.

The first session is about understanding your concerns in more detail, discussing relevant background, and agreeing clear goals to guide the work ahead!
