Warrior Three 😁

This might be a fun pose to get into!

Try with a friend or something you can lean on 🧘‍♀️🧘

1️⃣ Staring from a forward fold with your hands stable on the floor or the seat of the chair.

2️⃣ Grip the floor with your toes or try this in your shoes for a better support.

3️⃣ Bend you knees slightly and start to lift your left leg back and up

4️⃣ Start with balancing hoovering your foot of the floor and then see if you can straighten your knee fully

You will know yourself when you are ready to lift your hands off the ground/chair. Keep your head leveled with the ground and gaze on the floor.

You can do it! 💪💪💪

Warrior Two 🙃

1️⃣ Bring your left foot back into a 90 degree angle to the front foot fully in contact with the ground.

2️⃣ Open your chest to the side of the mat and spread your arms wide trying to keep them parallel to the ground.

3️⃣ Look over your left fingertips.

Good luck 🙂

Back to begginings!

Today's pose is Warrior One 😊

1️⃣ To prepare for this pose step your left foot back and bring it to a 30 degree angle keeping it flat on the floor with your left knee straight and your left glute engaged.

2️⃣ Make sure you are standing stable and if you are wobbly open gently your leg stance so your thighs move away from each other.

3️⃣ Bend your right knee to a comfortable angle ideally between 80-90 degrees.

4️⃣ Keep your torso facing forward and your eyes gazing up.
Bring your arms up and now you are in the pose!

Congratulations 👏

P.S. don't forget to breathe deeply in and out through your nose feeling the burn in your legs and the stability of your feet pushing into the floor with the same strength.

Hello world! 👋

The posts have stopped but not the yoga 😁

We have been working strong for over 2 years now at Sandy's Community Club at Niddrie/Craigmillar.

Sandys Community Centre

Our classes are a mixed beginners - moderate level focusing on a mix of balance, strength and flexibility for comfortable day to day living. The class age span varies from 20-70 years old and we offer progressive poses and lots of preparation to get into Asana.

Our motto is non judgement, commitment to self and community building.

If you want to strengthen your body, have fun and find a bigger range of motion come and join us every Tuesday at 7 pm.

If you can bring your mat but if you do not have one do not worry, we have some available at the centre.

The cost of the class is minimal at £3 😊 all we ask from you is You!

See you on the mat!

✨YIN YANG FLOW✨
Who would like to try some mobility flow for the hips and back? 🙃
In my yin Yang flows I tend to work around the mobility exercises to help us prepare the body for the asana. This way of training is great for increasing our range of motion in the joints.
By following a good routine you can create a strong practice that will be founded on well prepared supporting muscles surrounding your joints.

What do I love about it?

I love connecting Yin gentle and slow moments with an energetic Yang transitions or holds. When I flow this way I feel focused and embodied.
I feel as if I followed a natural flow of life.
Time to be active and time to relax.
Yin and Yang.
In this particular flow I put a big focus on the hips and the back. You can see some of the peak poses included in the flow can be modified with the use of blocks.

All my flows are different and I try to be as inclusive as possible when creating them 🤍🤍🤍

✨ABOUT ME✨

Hello everyone,

It’s Lena. I’m the brain behind Yinyangyogaedinburgh and I’d like to write a few words about myself here.

I’m obviously a yoga enthusiast but about this another time ☺️

I’d like to tell you about my other passions.

My first ever passion in life was travelling. I remember being very eager to get my first passport when I was just 16 years old and go for my first trip abroad to France.
I remember how all the nuisances of other peoples living surprised me and made me question my life and the world around me.
Ever since I loved to go to visit new countries and explore the many ways of living. I moved around quite a bit but since 2016 I have been living and studying in Edinburgh travelling around Europe if not in lockdown 😅
I can’t wait until the time comes when I can pack up my backpack again and leave my comfort zone again 😀

My second huge interest in life is in human biomechanics and physiology.
I have always been inspired by human body and it’s reaction to different factors. Both physically and mentally.
Im my free time I often day dream and I often find myself making up biomechanics theories that I then explore in research and my own experience.

The rest of me you can kinda take from the pictures above ☺️
I definitely like to smile, be goofy and play in life 🤩

I love a good cycle or any activity that allows to be in nature and that open space usually helps me connect with the self a bit better.

I believe that a good movie and a good cry can save the world. And that learning how to be a bit more empathetic can have a great impact on the relationships of any sort.
I’ll stop here before I get political but that’s a bit of me, quite simple, quite easy… I think I just become a bit easier in time seeing the many faces of life 🙏

The studio space is located inside the shop hidden on the upper floor that is called Upstairs@Biketrax

There are two ways of entering yoga classes run by YinYangYoga and they depend of whether they take place before or after opening hours of the shop.

I will post both ways of entering to the space in the next 2 posts so stay tuned to see it!

But just for the moment, enjoy this welcoming video that shows the beautiful sights of the Union Canal. It feels magical on a sunny day ☺️
See you soon

✨ENERGISING FLOW✨
This class is great for those wanting to start the day with a little bit more then just a coffee ☺️ come and join me for a an hour of heart and hip opening flow and feel ready for the upcoming weekend 🥰
After attending a few of my classes you might notice that my favourite style of teaching - yin and Yang- is very prominent in all of my classes ☯️
For me personally it is very important to be very mindful about the ways I move my body and to prevent injuries.
To fully access your range of motion you should first try to warm and mobilise the body before you dive in to the stretch.
So expect to find some more energetic warm up before we get into all the stretchy bits in the 2nd part of the class.
I’m so excited to meet you all!
🤩🤩🤩

✨Fridays 7-8 AM✨
Sending you positive energy🔆
