It's been a busy few weeks at Edinburgh College and Fife College promoting Breast Awareness and Breast Screening to staff and students.

We had a fantastic turnout and were able to engage with many interested individuals.

This why below it is so important to attend your Breast Screening Appointment.

If you’re female and registered at a GP you will automatically receive an invitation for screening through the post between the ages of 50-70. 💖

When you get your screening appointment will depend on the GP practice you're registered with. Don't worry if your appointment doesn't arrive as soon as you turn 50.

Each GP practice takes part in the screening programme every three years so you may not receive your first invitation until you're nearly 53.

If you need to change your appointment please call - 0131 537 7400

Happy New Year !

From the 25th January 2026 Gorgie road, Edinburgh will be closed between Robb's Loan an Hutchison Crossway. Expected to be completed July 2026.

If you have an appointment at Ardmillian House please make sure you give yourself plenty time to get there.

Attending regular screening when you’re invited can help to detect cancers before they may be seen or felt.

This means you are 5 times more likely to survive breast cancer if it is caught early.

The number of women not regularly checking their breasts is at a 4-year high.
New research has revealed that 45% of women in the UK don’t check their breasts regularly, increasing by 4% in the last 4 years. This is concerning as we know that the sooner breast cancer is diagnosed, the better the chances are of treatment being successful and lives potentially being saved.
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month we want to encourage everyone to get checking their breasts regularly. We know it can be hard to get in the habit, but by checking regularly it can help you feel more confident in knowing what’s normal for you.
Just remember to…
✋Touch your breasts
👀Look for changes
✅Check any new or unusual changes with a GP
