Soma Remembering

I’m taking a moment in reflection of the cycles of offering and receiving.
There’s something of an ongoing initiation into all the new shoes the great Mystery asks of us to fill.
And having just emerged through the initiation of becoming a 5Rhythms teacher- (only the beginning of the journey)- I feel a pull in the direction of the dance of this enquiry.

Music is and has always been a central pillar in my life. The silent and sounded music in and of everything, inside and out.
I wanted to re-share this album I recorded just over 2 years ago amidst the spiralling chaos of a transition towards following my feet to the city of Edinburgh I now call home; the chaos of the aftermath of a pandemic , the passing of my mother, the end of relationships and everything I thought I knew, the completion of my time at drama school and the burning embers of an uncontrollable pull to a new chapter that beckoned me in ways I’m only just touching the surface of discovering.

The music, the sound, that surfaced through me at that time is an expression of this landscape ; the legacy of the lands and ancestors I come from making love to the keys the chords the sounds the vibrations
an attempt for the heart-wrenching exquisite beauty of this chaos to find a home , to find a voice
Knowing that what moved through me was bigger than me ; a bearing of my heart in service to the Mystery and to all those hearts it dared touch and move and love in some intimately personal way. That somehow the chaos of it all is all our stories.
And so may it serve you the way it has me.

After having recently returned from retreat, my heart was deeply moved by a Hafiz poem that was read out there while we sat.
It’s called ‘I Know the way you can get’.
I trust that to some extent the words will resonate with some of you out there so I felt to share.
And perhaps expose a little more of the underbelly of the ‘me’ who finds herself feeling quite tender in the face of a kind of grief Hafiz speaks into so eloquently here.

One of the places I go (other than to song, the trees and the solace of poetry) is, without a doubt, to move.

I’ll be holding a 5Rhythms Sweat at Sahara studio in Dalry, tomorrow, Tuesday the 7th, 7-8:30 for anyone feeling to move with us. Come as you are.

And for all the Stockholm movers out there, I’ll be back the next two Sundays - 12th and 19th of May holding the 5Rhythms Sweat 6:30-8pm at Dieselverkstaden in Nacka.

I look forward to the gift of getting to share the space with all that emerges 🙏✨

The landscape of this body, my body, revealing herself for a moment in time. Ever-unfolding. Ever shape-shifting.

It has been a pleasure to be holding space for our collective dance through the 5Rhythms , through the map and beyond the map in this place.
Feeling gratitude to all the dancers who have come and all who will come.
Thank you for the blessing that is your dance , that is your sacred expression, that is your way of capturing eternity in one moment.

I so look forward to the dances to come.

A SWEAT is a space where we drop into an unguided wave , deepening in allowing your body to be your teacher on the journey ✨

Once again we are called to gather to dance, pray for peace and lift our hearts.
We invite you to join us for this community gathering dance.
All money raised will go to Medical Aid for Palestinians.

Where: Broughton St Mary's Parish church
When: Saturday 13th April 3-6pm (doors open from 2:45pm and close at 3:30pm)
Donation: min £15

As Edinburgh Dancing Tribe we want to be the change we want to see in the world.

As many of you know, the people of Gaza are suffering an unrelenting bombardment following the brutal attacks in Israel on the 7th October. The violence is taking a terrible toll, despite many calls for an immediate ceasefire. Supplies are scarce and living conditions are rapidly declining.

Thank you to all the beautiful Stockholm dancers who blessed this dance studio with their feet the last couple weeks 👣✨

I will be back with another 5Rhythms Sweat on the 21st of April, same time , same place. 6:30-8pm , Dieselverkstaden ✨

And for those of you in and around Edinburgh, the next Sweat will be on the 9th of April, 7-8:30pm, at Sahara Studio, Dalry.

The Scottish winds howl, the rain pours and I just gave my first 5Rhythms® SWEAT !
Post-Sweat Magnum ice cream - CHECK. ☑️

I find myself honouring the gift in Chaos at this time; it's been quite a ride getting here...
So much so that I found myself in tears standing behind the desk, Traktor up and running, candle flames burning, sage lit, lights dimmed, altar ready, music playing, heart beating, bare feet and me...
so this is really happening...
then, the space... empty, but full in anticipation and full in spirit with loved ones near and far, teachers, mentors, the elements, and all those who have, who do, or will ever tread this path, and full in spirit with the urban shaman herself, Gabrielle Roth.

There is much to learn and I speak this with the upmost gratitude for all that has led me here; all the support seen and unseen to walk and dance the path I tread.

The waters blessed our dance tonight. May it ripple out to all corners and heavy hearts at this time with the most tender release. May it be so now and always.

The next will be in two weeks; 6th of Feb; 7-8:30pm at Sahara Studios in Edinburgh.
