It was fantastic to see so many of our volunteers and colleagues at SCAS yesterday, with a number of our volunteers nominated for the Newton Award - a brilliant recognition of their outstanding contribution to the chain of survival and their dedication to improving outcomes from out‑of‑hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) 🤩

Hearing about all the incredible work and achievements across Scotland, the UK, and even across the pond was truly inspiring 👏🏼

CPR Awareness at Turriff Primary School

I’ve just had two brilliant days at Turriff Primary School delivering CPR awareness sessions to every class from P1 to P7, and the pupils’ enthusiasm was incredible.

A huge shout‑out to the Voluntary Cardiac Responder and Student Paramedics from RGU. Their hands‑on demos and energy helped bring everything to life and showed pupils what real emergency response looks like.

The children threw themselves into every activity, and it was inspiring to see how quickly they connected with the basics. Helping young people feel more aware and confident strengthens our whole community.

A massive thank‑you to the staff and pupils for such a warm welcome and two unforgettable days.

This is fantastic to see! Thank you for supporting our Community Responders, Jack! 🫶🏼💚

Jack joined the volunteers to deliver a cardiac arrest scenario and familiarisation of a SAS A&E vehicle.

Thanks to Jack for the training and to all our volunteers - your work is invaluable to communities.

Pictured is Jason Tilbury from Yell, Shetland, a newly trained Community Cardiac Responder, receiving a donated defibrillator to support his vital voluntary role. Volunteers like Jason provide a crucial, rapid response to cardiac arrest calls in their communities, often arriving first and delivering life‑saving care in the minutes before an ambulance can reach the scene.

The defibrillator has been generously donated by the North Yell Development Council and supplied by Grampian Training Services 💚

Welcome to the Scottish Ambulance Service, Jason. We wish you all the best in your new role 🍀🚑

Huge thank you to Leanne who carried out a rapid assessment of a patient she attended as a Community First Responder. Recognising quickly that the patient was in Cardiac Arrest, she was able to escalate this to Ambulance Control and start CPR immediately.

Well done Leanne, and thank you for everything you do for your patients and community 💚
