Did you know.....
❓ The hair growth cycle is comprised of four distinct phases.
❓ The initial three phases - anagen, catagen, and telogen - are responsible for hair growth, maturation, and the function of hair follicles that produce individual hairs. The final phase, exogen, involves the shedding of "old" hair, which is typically followed by the emergence of a new hair in its place.
❓ The anagen phase is the longest, lasting between 3 to 5 years for scalp hairs. However, for some individuals, a single hair may continue to grow for 7 or more years.
❓ During the anagen phase, the hair follicles generate hairs that will continue to grow until they are cut or reach the end of their lifespan and naturally fall out. At any given time, approximately 90% of scalp hairs are in the anagen phase.
❓ The anagen phase varies in duration depending on the type of hair, with eyebrow and p***c hairs having a much shorter anagen phase than scalp hairs.
