Hereโ€™s why:

If you're ever in a car accident DO NOT remove your baby or young child from their car seat unless staying in the vehicle poses a greater danger (like fire or flooding) or if your child requires CPR.

Car seats are designed to protect little ones but the impact of a car accident could cause internal injuries for little bodies so itโ€™s best to leave them where they are until paramedics can assess them for. Moving your child too soon could accidentally make an unseen injury worse.

Even if your baby seems fine, let professionals do the checks.

โ€ผ๏ธ Magnet Warning โ€ผ๏ธ

A mum has shared this X-Ray in a Facebook post to help raise awareness of the dangers of magnets.

She received a phone call from her childโ€™s school to tell her she needed to take her child to hospital because she was experiencing abdominal pain.

Thanks to a widely shared Tik Tok trend, the child and her friend thought it would be cool to make it look like they had a tongue piercing.

Her daughter put a magnet on the top and the bottom of her tongue to see what it would look like. Her friend asked her to lift her tongue up to see the underneath and she accidentally swallowed them.

Why is swallowing magnets so dangerous?

Swallowing magnets can be extremely dangerous because they can attract each other through the walls of the intestines.

If multiple magnets get stuck in different parts of the intestines or bowels, they can pinch together, causing serious damage like perforations or blockages. It's really scary because this can lead to very serious complications if it isnโ€™t dealt with quickly.

That's why if a child swallows any magnets, it's vital to get medical help fast.

Lots of toys for young children contain magnets so itโ€™s important to only buy from reputable, trusted brands that have undergone UK safety testing standards. Look for the UKCA or CE mark.

Thankfully the child in question recovered without requiring surgery or the magnets causing any damage internally as they stayed together but it could have been a very different story.

Thank you so much to this mum (who wished to remain anonymous) for sharing their story and image with us to help warn other parents.

๐Ÿค’A normal temperature in babies and children is about 36.4C, but this can vary slightly. A fever is usually considered to be a temperature of 38C or above.

โžกYour baby may have a high temperature if they:

- feel hotter than usual to touch on their forehead, back or stomach
- feel sweaty or clammy
- have flushed cheeks

๐Ÿ’™If you think your baby has a temperature, it's best to check with a thermometer.

โ€ผ Ideally, you need a digital under arm thermometer to get a fast, accurate reading. You can buy these online or from pharmacies and most large supermarkets.

โžกTo take your child's temperature:

- Hold them comfortably on your knee and put the thermometer in their armpit โ€“ always use the thermometer in the armpit with children under 5 years to get the most accurate reading.
- Gently, but firmly, hold their arm against their body to keep the thermometer in place for however long it says in the manufacturer's instructions โ€“ usually about 15 seconds.
- The display on the thermometer will then show your child's temperature.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully, you should get an accurate reading.

๐Ÿ’™There are a few things that can slightly alter the reading โ€“ if your child has been:

- wrapped up tightly in a blanket
- in a very warm room
- very active
- cuddling a hot water bottle
- wearing a lot of clothes
- having a bath

๐Ÿ™If so, allow them to cool down for a few minutes, but do not let them get cold or shivery, then take their temperature again to see if there's any change.

March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month. The symptoms of ovarian cancer can be very vague, particularly when the disease is in its early stages.

Ovarian cancer is when abnormal cells in the o***y begin to grow and divide in an uncontrolled way. They eventually form a growth (tumour). If not caught early, cancer cells gradually grow into the surrounding tissues. And may spread to other areas of the body.

You should arrange to see your doctor if you have any of these signs and symptoms:
- feeling full quickly
- loss of appetite
- pain in your tummy (abdomen) or lower part of your abdomen that doesn't go away
- bloating or an increase in the size of your abdomen
- needing to wee more often

You may also have these other symptoms:
- tiredness that is unexplained
- weight loss that is unexplained
- changes in your bowel habit or symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, especially if this starts after the age of 50

These are all symptoms of other less serious conditions but if you have them or anything else that is not normal for you get them checked out by your doctor.
