OLEKSIY TOROKHTIY SEMINAR, 13-14 May 2023 🇺🇦🏋🏻♂️

Last weekend, I attended Torokhtiy’s 2 day theoretical and practical seminar - going over exercise techniques, the principles and methods of training for Olympic Weightlifting.
A little background info on Oleksiy - he has been weightlifting for over 20 years. He competed in the Olympics in 2008 and 2012, and is a European and World Champion in Olympic weightlifting.
On Saturday we went over the Sn**ch, while on Sunday we focused on the Clean + Jerk.
Both days started off with theory, for about 1hr-1.5hrs. Lots of notes!! Then we spent time working with the PVC stick (very light!), practicing the movements and going over the drills. Lots and lots of reps!
After lunch, we started using barbells to continue going over the drills and movement patterns. After this, Oleksiy drew up a programme for us to follow - the choice to stick to around 50-55% (of your 1RM), and work on technique and volume. Alternatively, you could build up to your 1RM and push the weights! Of course, I chose this option (cause how often do you get to train in front of a former Olympian, European champion + world champion) 🥳🥳

~ 47.5kg clean + power jerk
An amazing weekend! I learned so much, lots of new drills! New techniques on coaching and practicing the movements. Lots to take into my own training and that of my clients too!
Lots of reflections over the weekend too - too much to share, so that is for another post!
I love training and I love oly lifting, and this weekend made me fall even more in love with this sport ❤️🔥
