It feels like Instagram is trying to goad me into setting up some kind of n*pplesforp*lest*ne account!
Woke up to being suspended again (usually it happens monthly on the 12th now but this was a bit premature. HNY!
This coincidences feels apt as the wee end of year piece I wrote about feeling through 2024 - a year mostly fuelled by grief, rage, snacks & memorable meals! After 2024 🎢, I’m ready for 2025 and whatever it throws. Honourable mention to for being my rock & gossip companion.
Photos on Insta include a rage-inspired tattoo (thanks ); a protest against fly-tipping & arson by my neighbours 🙏🏻; the wonderful ‘Disrupting the Narrative’ event - a memorable evening swollen with grief, resolve and beauty; farahsalehdance’s excellent participatory Balfour Declarations at the .
Plus snacks, my best hair day (20 August) and the day the beautiful cat came to visit.

🎄Last chance to buy from Fingerlimes & Clementines! 🎄

Back in December 2022, myself and opened a very last minute pop-up Christmas shop with beautifully designed gifts from local and sustainable makers. Life has been somewhat of a whirlwhind for both of us since then, so the shop has taken a back seat, but we’re now selling all our remaining stock online and will be closing the shop permanently in January. This Christmas will mark our final season at Fingerlimes & Clementines. 🎄🍋🎄🍊🎄

✨ Don’t miss your chance! ✨
Our final collection is live now – perfect for gifting and cherishing. Stock is v limited, so grab your favourites before they’re gone forever. We’re offering reductions on some products and we are also able to offer a free Edinburgh collection. For purchases outside the UK, please DM for a quote on postal charges.

To everyone who supplied us, visited or bought from us, especially during our 🍉 fundraiser, thank you for supporting our small shop, sharing our creations, and being part of this deliciously creative journey.

In this article, I share a little of the process of trawling through old newspaper archives to try to find out which public diners existed in Edinburgh and when, and share a few interesting pieces I’ve discovered so far. Overall, I’d hoped to uncover more about the menus, sourcing, and supply chains of public diners in Scotland.

"Earlier this year, I met this woman again at another party. She joked about how she had put on her Instagram that she was a ‘fruit-cutting performance artist’. I laughed, realising that her light-hearted comment was referencing exactly the kind of thing I aspire to do professionally—experimenting with food in creative, unconventional ways.

In that moment my mind immediately conjured up the image of an artist in Beirut who works with food under the handle ."

"As a greengrocer, the change of the seasons is marked, romantic and visceral! With a surprising chill and fresh bite in the air, this week feels like a bridge between the last of those enchanting Scottish berries; the grocer’s cart colour wheel spinning from cheerful reds, subtle pinks, and hazy blues to solemn oranges and the earthy deep greens of mixed squash."

I was enchanted by something I had not seen before; maybe I was not looking. I gazed upon it with curiosity, with desire, and we danced together with whimsy. But I wanted more…I always want more."

"As I am off work, I have spent a lot of time on Reddit, not a usual pastime for me, but in a hunt for truths, half-truths or further gossip, I love a good ole' internet rabbit hole.

In the vein of LA Confidential's ‘Round up, round up’, August (2023)has been quite a month for gossip in Edinburgh:"

One thing I love about being single is going to the beach on my own. When the sun hints it may be nice. Or…it’s certainly not raining. On a day set aside for a heap of freelance tasks, I declare a strike! Allow time to flex to accommodate some sea air. A trip free of the intricacies of coordinating how long it may take to cross the city...
