Sitting still, upright and in silence can be a huge barrier to so many who want to access the benefits of meditation.

Connecting with plants as an embodied experience is of my favourite ways to facilitate a meditation these days.

Intentionally engaging our senses: sniffing like wolves; exploring the gentle wisp of feather brushing our skin; tasting an aromatic herb as a tea; exploring the deep variations of green with our sight; and listening, to the crunching of leaves, and rattling of seed heads.

Acorns as Food 🐿️🌳

Learning how to prepare and cook with acorns yesterday at Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre Something I've been intrigued about for a while but had been nervous to explore alone.

We sipped an uplifting, bitter acorn 'coffee' and baked bread. The bread was delicious, nutty, hearty and nourishing, and the company inspiring.

Thank you Natalie and Rob

Suki♥️ ... I know favourites are frowned upon, but wee Suki is probably my favourite Thursday morning yoga student 😉

she shows up every week as her authentic self, always bouncing excitedly into the room. She gives everyone there a wee bit attention, takes savasana very seriously, shakes and shoogles with dedication, and demos the very best of down dogs.

Annnnnd I'm also super grateful for her hooman for his dedication to our yoga too!

Thank you to the wonderful Monday Women's Group for having me host my first ever community herbal workshop 🌹

Just in time for Galentines day, we explored the
beautiful plant Rose, talked about her medicinal and energetic properties, experienced a tea tasting, and stewed a love potion (rose syrup) to take home.

Oh and the sun was shining ☀️

Jelly Ears foraged on my daily commute to the farm. Infused with homemade rose syrup, coated in dark chocolate.

Saturday's sweet bite whilst I cosy in with the dogs, and study for my herbal foundations course.

The light in January lands a little differently. It's subtle, the low lying, fleeting sun demands you slow down and pay attention, and create your own when required.

🍊🔥 hot spiced orange juice...

It got mixed reviews last time I posted it (like two years ago!!) what do folk think?

Two oranges, peeled and blended, heated up with turmeric, ginger, cloves, cinnamon and black pepper, and water. Then served with apple cider vinegar (I used rose hip infused).

Sean is on the fence, drinks it for health but feels it's got 'too many bits'.

December evenings spent herbal crafting for midwinter gifting.

I'm having great fun exploring plant medicine in such a deeply embodied way with Grassroots Remedies.

Tonight we've got:
😴 deep sleep bedtime tincture
😷 cough syrup
🤧 thyme, ginger and garlic in raw honey
