As some of you may know, we set-up Liver Health UK to contribute to the fight against . From the outset, we were acutely aware of the challenge in front of us. It was not a hill, instead a mountain to climb. We knew we couldn't make an impact on our own. So we partnered with others such as The Liver Group Charity & Liver4Life, who are doing incredible work with limited resources. We wanted to make a difference by increasing funding for them and focus on education.

Today, we are a nearly 5,000 strong community. And we fund projects through sales of our consumer brand - LivOn Antioxidant Coffee Brand, where 10P of every pack goes back to liver research. Although we have not turned profitable, we have never compromised on our commitment and the mission. It will always stay the same.

This week marked another important milestone in our journey. We launched 4 new unique products to the market. They will make us stronger and help us fund even more projects. If I can ask you, for one thing, that would be to share our story and the mission with others. We are stronger together.

Stay safe & healthy.

We've been asked a few times about the difference between fatty liver and NASH. So, we wrote a short post explaining the two.

Essentially, they are both two types of NAFLD. And NASH is the most severe form. But the good news is that NAFLD is reversible with early detection and lifestyle changes.

Is there anything that you would like us to explore in our next post?

Simple fatty liver and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) are two distinct diseases, two types of NAFLD. It is not clear why some people develop fatty liver and others develop NASH.

1 in 3 of us is affected by poor with emerging as the dominant cause. There’s an urgent need to improve early detection, particularly amongst high risk groups.

However, the current methods are costly for large scale screening programs. It’s great to see the emergence of new blood tests that could differentiate between healthy liver, NAFL and NASH. Here’s hoping that these tools will go through next phase of development to enable mass scale adoption. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

A novel combinations of glycans, lipids and hormonal variables can simultaneously diagnose the presence of nonalcoholic fatty liver or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis with up to 90% accuracy, according to findings published in Metabolism Clinical and Experimental. “Today, physicians assess liver....

So if you are affected by Type 2 diabetes, it’s worth speaking to your doctor about NAFLD. The sooner you diagnose NAFLD, easier it is to reverse any liver damage.

What a fabulous story.

"Consultant at 6 weeks of age, "Tiffany has Biliary Atresia. Your daughter won't make it past 2 years old without medical intervention!" Consultant at 6 months of age "Tiffany won't survive without a liver transplant"

"Lots of tears, endless worry, tons of hope, one amazing niece and lots of love and laughter later and just like that my beautiful Tiffany is off in her school uniform for her first 2 hours in reception.

"Will she let me leave? I doubt it! Do I want to leave her? No! How proud am I of all these kids, never mind how bonkers they drive me! They are my absolute world!

"Thank you to Fern for donating part of your liver to give us these milestones and the chance to make these memories together! My family, my everything ❤ "
