"The nurses always wanted to know if we needed anything. They asked Stacey what she liked, and she told them she loved having a bath, so they gave her one, with champagne too. She had foot massages, and when they changed her bed they even sprayed it with her perfume. She loved all that." 💛

Joost and Stacey had been together for ten years when she died from terminal cancer in 2023. In his blog, Joost explains how our Glasgow hospice helped them spend precious time together when it really mattered.

💐🌺🌼 We are so grateful to the owners of ‘Claremont’, West Lothian, for choosing us to benefit from the opening their garden once again on Sunday 20 July 1 til 4pm. It’s a beautifully eclectic garden created over 20 years and today has 3 areas with an abundance of variety including borders, ponds, a rockery and a dovecot.

Refreshments, a plant stall and a pottery exhibition will also be available to enjoy.

"The most rewarding parts of my volunteering differ depending on who I’m supporting. For one, it was seeing him relax around me. With the other, the most rewarding thing was seeing him laugh."

The amazing Amber became a Marie Curie Companion in 2024 when she found herself with some extra time on her hands. Fast forward to today, and Amber visits two people each week 💛.

From spending time at local garden centres to setting up Spotify playlists, Amber's found ways to connect with the people she visits which have helped her get to know herself even better too. 🌱

Overwhelming congratulations and thanks to Angus who completed an Ultra Marathon for us last Saturday running the circumference of Auld Reekie - an incredibly impressive 55km. Angus was dedicating his challenge to his Grandma, Alma, who was in our care in 2016, and in her memory has raised just shy of £1000.

Pictured with Angus is his Grandpa, Peter, who so generously gave many years to tending our Hospice garden, an area and view that Alma very much enjoyed.

You are both heroes, thank you so much; we are so proud of you 💛🥇👏

Telling healthcare professionals about your sexual orientation or gender identity might worry you - but here are some things to consider ⬇️
🔴 It’s your choice what you tell people – there’s no right or wrong decision. What you choose to tell people depends on what you are comfortable with and what you feel is important.
🟠 Talking to professionals about your sexual orientation or gender identity can help to make sure care is centred around who you are and what’s important to you.
🟢 Telling professionals about the people who are important to you means they can involve them in decisions about your care and can support them too.
🔵 If you tell professionals that you’re LGBTQ+, they should continue to treat you with dignity and respect at all times.

We are immensely grateful to all those who once again supported the annual Sportsman's Breakfast hosted by Mount Vernon Golf Club based at Liberton Golf Club. This event, together with the Golf Day, have raised the astounding amount of £146,780 over the past 17 years. We can't thank you all enough for your dedication, commitment and support during this time; we are truly blessed to be thought of in this way.
