🏃Pilates For Runners!🏃

We are delighted to announce that our new Pilates for Runners class will commence on Monday 28th April at 7.30pm! This class will focus on building muscle strength in the areas where runners need it most, in order to help reduce risk of injury. We will run this as a 9 week block. 🌟5 Common Training Errors In Runners🌟

It is a New Year and perhaps, like many of us, you are focussing on training for an endurance running event this year. It could be a 5K, 10K, Half, Full or even Ultra marathon!

Whatever it is you are training for it is very easy to get carried away with your training. The truth is that the majority of the injuries that we see in runners (around 80% of injuries) are due to training error.

Our last post highlighted the importance of training smarter in all aspects of fitness training to avoid injury. This week we highlight the 5 common training errors in endurance runners.

5 Common Training Errors are:

🏃Doing too much, too soon
🏃Putting too many high intensity sessions into your weekly training
🏃Not having or having a poor training plan
🏃Rapid return to running after a break (very common in January!)
🏃Not prioritising recovery

So our main piece of advice is to take the time to plan your training and avoid the above errors, it will greatly reduce your chance of injury!

💪Train Smarter This January! 💪

January often brings a surge of motivation to hit the gym or take on a new fitness challenge- but it is important not to overdo it. Starting the year strong is great, but pushing too hard, too fast can often lead to injury. As Physiotherapists, we know this only too well and regularly see injuries that are caused by doing too much, too quickly.

So, in order to help reduce your risk of injury whilst you work on your fitness goals, it is beneficial to plan your training and follow the below tips:

🔵Set realistic goals
🔵Build up training gradually
🔵Rest days are important- put them into your plan
🔵Listen to your body- if you don't feel good, alter your training accordingly
🔵Stay Consistent- don't overdo it, just because you missed a training session!

By planning ahead and thinking about your fitness training in January, you will have a good chance of staying on track all year long! 💪✨

Thank you to all who have been part of ProMOTION in 2024, whether you are regular Pilates attender, benefitted from the services of our great massage therapists or have required Physiotherapy to get you back to what you love doing!

We hope you have an enjoyable festive season. Our therapists will be taking a well deserved break over Christmas with our last full day being Monday 23rd December. We will have limited appointments between Christmas and New Year and look forward to retuning to normal hours from Friday 3rd January!
