We’re so excited to welcome Chloe Sung to the team on the 22nd of June! It was so special to capture some beautiful photos with Chloe, Brenda, and Daniel, our practice manager, as we mark this meaningful moment for the practice.

As Brenda’s final days with us are approaching, we want to take a moment to say how grateful we are for everything she has brought to the team. Her kindness, dedication, and support have meant so much to all of us. While she will be deeply missed, we are incredibly excited for everything ahead of her.

At the same time, we’re thrilled for this new chapter and can’t wait for Chloe to join the practice family. We know she will bring so much warmth and positivity to the team, and we’re looking forward to all the memories still to come.

In case you missed our email, we have some important news to share. After many years of caring for patients at Birrell Rainford, Brenda Rainford will be retiring this June.

Brenda has supported generations of families and will be greatly missed by both our team and our patients. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication, kindness and the outstanding care she has given over the years.

We are pleased to welcome Chloe Sung, who will be joining the practice and taking over Brenda’s clinics.

Chloe brings nearly 10 years of optical experience, a strong clinical focus, and particular expertise in contact lenses, including children’s fittings. She is also completing further training in independent prescribing, ensuring patients benefit from the latest advances in eye care.

Brenda and Chloe will be working together for a period, allowing a smooth handover and the opportunity for patients to meet Chloe during the transition.

You will continue to see the same friendly faces in practice, with Daniel, Susan, Alishbah, James and Alex here to support you as always. Your care and records remain unchanged.

MEET OUR AUDIOLOGIST 👂

After his education, Marius worked in the restaurant industry for a Michelin Star restaurant where excellence is a standard requirement in every way. He decided on a career change and started training in audiology. Marius trained in ear wax removal and then qualified as a Hearing Care Assistant (HCA) before taking an audiology qualification at Queen Margaret University.

Marius enjoys going to the gym and walking his two French bulldogs with his partner in his spare time.

We’re delighted to introduce Alex, our newest Optical Consultant!

Originally from Peebles, Alex spent a short time living in London before settling in Edinburgh, where he’s spent the past 7 years building an impressive career in optics. With 10 years of retail experience – including 7 years in optics – Alex brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for helping patients find the best visual solutions for their needs.

Before joining us, Alex also volunteered with Sense Scotland and worked part-time in a shoe shop before studying computing at college.

What Alex loves most about the job?

✨ Building great relationships with customers
✨ Problem solving
✨ Helping patients find the perfect vision solutions

Outside of work, you’ll likely find Alex enjoying gaming, music, football, films, and TV.
