Ken Talbot – Back to Break Records!

We at ESP Physio have been proud to work with Ken for the past few years, supporting his journey in elite handcycling. Many will know Ken as the former world handcycling land speed record holder, a title he held for years until it was broken around two years ago.

Since then, Ken has been working tirelessly with his coaching team — and with our support — training for the past two years to reclaim his place at the very top. What began as treatment for an ongoing injury has evolved into a long-term partnership, helping him prepare both physically and mentally for this extraordinary challenge.

📍 The World Human Powered Speed Challenge
📅 September 7th – 13th, 2025
📌 Battle Mountain, Nevada

On one of the world’s fastest, smoothest roads, cyclists from around the globe will gather to push the limits of human performance. The current handcycling land speed record stands at 51.75 mph — and Ken is determined to go faster hitting speeds of 55mph.

Ken’s Land Speed Record Ken, it’s been an honour to support you on this journey. We wish you every success in Nevada — time to bring that record home again! 🏆

💙 With pride and a touch of sadness, we say goodbye to our physio, Andrew, as he heads back to Singapore with his wife, Lydia, for an exciting new chapter.

Since joining ESP Physio as a student in 2019, Andrew has been a star — from treating patients and supporting Stirling Rugby Super 6 to guiding student placements with QMUC. His energy, professionalism, and kindness have left a lasting mark on us all.

Andrew isn’t just a colleague — he’s family. We’ll miss him dearly, but we wish him and Lydia every happiness ahead.

Long may your lum reek, Andrew — and thank you for everything! 💙

Did you know?

Physiotherapy has been around for over 200 years – but it only really became part of sport in the 1950s and 60s, as professional teams and Olympic athletes started to recognise the benefits.

From simple massage and “medical gymnastics” back then, to today’s advanced injury prevention, rehab and performance programmes, physios have become an essential part of every athlete’s journey.

Whether it’s football, rugby, athletics or golf – physiotherapy keeps sportspeople moving, recovering, and performing at their best.

We, at ESP Physio is at the forefront of physiotherapy in sport today

What Causes Arthritis – and How Physio Can Help

Arthritis is one of the most common causes of joint pain and stiffness, affecting people of all ages. It can be caused by:

Wear and tear of the joints over time (osteoarthritis)
Inflammation of the immune system attacking the joints (rheumatoid arthritis)
Previous injuries or repetitive strain
Lifestyle factors such as weight, posture, and activity levels

Living with arthritis doesn’t mean giving up the activities you love.

Physiotherapy can make a real difference by:

Improving joint mobility and flexibility
Strengthening the muscles that support your joints
Reducing pain through tailored exercises and hands-on treatment
Offering lifestyle advice to help you manage symptoms day-to-day

With the right physio plan, you can stay active, mobile, and in control of your condition.

If joint pain is slowing you down, book an assessment today – small steps can lead to big improvements.
