Weโ€™re excited to announce that Luke Bremner Fitness is now Athlos Fitness!

Having owned and operated LBF since 2011, Luke has decided to take a step back, and our long-term coach Duncan McPherson has taken over the business, which has been rebranded as Athlos Fitness.

Luke will remain involved with the business to support Duncan through the transition and as a part of the Athlos Fitness team.

With this change, Duncan brings a fresh vision and direction to the business, and weโ€™re very excited to roll out new programmes and services over the coming weeks and months!

But for now, everything is continuing to run as normal and from the same location in Stockbridge.

We're delighted to welcome Gavin Davies to the LBF team!

Gavin is a long-time advocate for Strength and Conditioning training, stretching and mobility work, with over a decade of disciplined, consistent personal practice, experimentation and refinement.

His training background sits on 8 years of cycling training in London before relocating to Edinburgh and transitioning to full-time PT.

Gavin builds trust with clients by having the awareness and attention to detail that enables him to meet clients where theyโ€™re at, programme the training they need, and pinpoint areas to improve and progress their physicality safely and efficiently.

He designs training programs to improve performance, increase confidence, health and longevity and empower individuals to embrace any other challenging opportunity they face. His approach to general physical preparedness is with the goal of developing capable and durable people.

Gavin has deep knowledge on physicality and a drive to continually improve sees him reading extensively and continually learning through established trainers who prove their process. He has attended training seminars both in the UK and the US.

He is a calmly motivating force and an incredibly supportive, kind and knowledgeable trainer to work with. He understands the connection between body, mind and lifestyle, so training becomes a holistic part of broader self-improvement. Calorie Cycling: the simple but effective strategy we use to prevent weight loss plateaus (and make dieting more enjoyable).

Nutrition can be a confusing topic. Especially when it comes to the topic of weight loss.

But weโ€™re all about simplicity at LBFโ€ฆ and helping our clients make meaningful changes in their nutrition and lifestyle habits.

So let us break it down - as simply as we can - how to cycle your calories for weight loss success.

First, you need to input your data into a calorie calculator to get your calorie targets. Thereโ€™s plenty online. Or you can use an app like MyFitnessPal.

Note your maintenance calorie target. Note your calorie deficit target.

To lose weight, eat in a calorie deficit. You can do this until you start to feel your body isnโ€™t too happy any more. Common signs are low energy & mood, poor sleep and craving junk food.

This is your bodyโ€™s way of saying โ€œI donโ€™t like this any moreโ€.

Itโ€™s around this time you may also hit a weight loss plateau as your metabolic rate starts to reduce in an attempt to conserve energy.

At this point, start eating at calorie maintenance levels again for a while. And no, you wonโ€™t gain weight by doing this (assuming youโ€™re not in a calorie surplus, of course).

The scales may go up a little, especially if youโ€™re consuming more carbohydrate again. But donโ€™t worry about this.

When your energy, mood and sleep return to normal and cravings start to subside? You can move back into a calorie deficit.

And thatโ€™s it. Simple in theory, but not always easy to implementโ€ฆ

Iโ€™ve done a lot of training and certifications in my 14 years as a PTโ€ฆ

But this biomechanics course with was definitely the most challenging yet rewarding course Iโ€™ve done.

Biomechanics is a challenging field of study to grasp and master but is, I believe, one of the most valuable skills any fitness trainer can learn to enhance their skills dramatically.

Weโ€™ll be launching a new biomechanics service at the studio soon and are excited to bring this to the Edinburgh (and online) marketโ€ฆ

Unlike most gyms and fitness facilities, our focus is on completely personal service through private 1-to-1 personal training & coaching.

Thereโ€™s no contending with crowded, busy and often intimidating public gyms and no waiting around for equipmentโ€ฆ

Only you and your dedicated LBF coach in a training studio just like this one.

Is privacy essential to getting results? No.

But we believe itโ€™s this private environment that allows us to deliver the most personalised service to youโ€ฆ

This mornings breakfast (and one of my personal favourites) - a berry based smoothie bowl. ๐Ÿ“

6๏ธโƒฃ6๏ธโƒฃ0๏ธโƒฃ calories
* 82g carbs
* 21g fat
* 37g protein

Ingredients:
> 100g Frozen Berries
> 2 Frozen Bananas
> 2 Scoops Protein Powder
> tsp Turmeric
> 70ml Almond Milk
> 15g Flaxseed

Blended together in the nutri-bullet and then topped with:
> Fresh Banana
> 30g Blueberries
> 10g Raisins
> tbsp Chia Seeds
> Sprinkle of cinnamon

Delicious meal and perfect amounts of protein and carbs for post workout.

Probably a little stressed and overwhelmed too?

I know itโ€™s easy to let your health slide when life gets busy and stressfulโ€ฆ

Despite being a PT and Health Coach, Iโ€™ve been there too.

And this is why itโ€™s super important to make changing your health as easy as possible.

โŒTrying to change too much at once?
โœ… Try making smaller changes at first.

โŒTrying to follow a complicated diet or exercise plan?
โœ… Try following a simple approach that works for you.

โŒ Trying to do everything perfectly?
โœ… Try being consistent with the basics instead.

Change is hard. These steps make it easier.

In your busy and stressful life, less is more.

Oh, and be kind to yourself. A little self-compassion and baby steps go a long way. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

But instead to help you understand what a before & after image truly representsโ€ฆ

Which is the end result of weeks or months of commitment to change. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

No, change isnโ€™t easy. And itโ€™s not fastโ€ฆ at least if you want long-term sustainable change.
