Some epic news from our client Mindroom! 🌟

On Saturday, and to commemorate the 25th birthday of the charity he co-founded with his wife, journalist and author Sophie Dow, Robin Dow embraced his experience as a marathon enthusiast for a deeply personal and inspiring fundraising event.

At 81 years old and recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, Robin planned and completed an inspirational 25 miles (40 km) from Mindroom’s office in Leith to the dramatic cliffs of Tantallon Castle in East Lothian.

Robin was joined by friends, family, supporters and Mindroom’s CEO Alan Thornburrow, to mark this symbolic and powerful journey in support of the charity he and Sophie created in 2000, inspired by their daughter Annie.

Donations are still open! Here is the link: https://www.mindroom.org/get-involved/donating/

Well-deserved coverage has already been achieved in: Edinburgh Evening News, Edinburgh Live, and The Edinburgh Reporter to name just a few!

Exciting news from our client Dynamic Earth… ✨

With the Festival Fringe fast approaching, Dynamic Earth provided the backdrop for a jaw-dropping Fringe stunt by blind mentalist Fraser Penman, described as “Scotland’s answer to Derren Brown".

In a unique twist on the classic game of Hide and Seek, Fraser used the rare art of Hellstromism (muscle-reading) to locate a hidden personal item beneath the centre’s rainforest canopy – guided only by touch and psychological cues.

The object had been hidden deep within the exhibition by Still Game’s ‘Isa’ and ‘Tam’ – but Fraser, without sight, successfully tracked it down using subtle signals and intuition alone.

Dynamic Earth isn’t just a science centre – it’s a standout Fringe venue. With immersive spaces like its indoor rainforest, it sets the stage for unforgettable moments at the heart of Edinburgh’s festival scene.

Meet the next face in our series, Faces of Four! 💙

Say hello to Lucy – one of our INCREDIBLE Directors. An Irish powerhouse, Lucy brings a calm confidence, sharp insight, and a genuine love for impactful storytelling.

With more than 20 years of experience, Lucy has led campaigns across the UK and internationally. There’s not much she hasn’t seen, or navigated in the world of PR that’s for sure!

Read below learn a bit more about her journey.

➜ How did you get into PR?

When I left school I went to college in Bangor, Northern Ireland to study for an HND in Information Technology (nothing to do with PR) but it had a marketing module I absolutely loved. This led me to study Marketing Management in Scotland as an undergraduate, then a Masters in Strategic Public Relations and Communication Management. Five years later I got my first internship in PR, some people know what they want immediately after school, but by trusting the process of study, it eventually narrowed down to what is now a 25-year career.

➜ What do you love most about working in PR?

The power of communication is infectious – not just about what brands and organisations communicate to us – but how we communicate together. There's nothing better than collaborating with your team, developing the communications plan and implementing it. The end product of a creative idea that has been told in loads of different ways across many channels is also very satisfying. PR has developed so much over the course of my career but seeing those editorial headlines still gives me a high! I've also been able to work abroad with PR and dabble in politics. It's an incredible underrated industry that's not just full of the cliche 00s spin doctors.

➜ What are your favourite things to do outside of work?

I love to spend time with my husband and two kids travelling with the caravan. Walking the dog (when she behaves), cooking (I'm a massive foodie), reading books for book club, exercising and horse riding.

Wimbledon fever has officially arrived…And we are hooked! 🎾✨

Plymouth City Centre is serving up something extra special this summer, becoming the only UK city where you can catch live Wimbledon screenings and try your hand at Padel - one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing sports in the UK – for free….And we are working with the team to let the whole world know!

From 30 June to 13 July, visitors can enjoy all the tennis action on the big screen, then pick up a racket and give Padel a go, thanks to a partnership with Padel United UK and Plymouth Marjon University.

Meet the next face in our series, Faces of Four! 💙

Say hello to Katie – one of our FAB Account Managers. An out-of-the-box thinker with a passion for a good story, Katie is quick to get to the heart of the media agenda and always knows what’s trending. Smart, switched-on, and full of that infectious Glaswegian energy, Katie’s as passionate about PR as she is about Taylor Swift – and that’s saying something…

Read below to learn a more about Katie.

➜ How did you get into PR?

I got into PR in a bit of a roundabout manner…I had worked in various Sales and Marketing roles for around 10 years and after I had my youngest, Harrison, I took a step back from my corporate career and focused on my family while working part time. As a way to make new mum friends I turned to social media and became a bit of an accidental influencer/blogger. Turns out I loved all the elements of blogging from writing, website building, events, socials and photography.

So, when the opportunity came up for me to return to education during lockdown, I jumped at the chance to do the Advertising & PR HND course at COGC. Soon after, I had a chat with the founder of a PR agency that I had worked with as an influencer, about working part time with through my degree with the intention of going full time after graduation. Three years on, a lot of work and learning, a couple of promotions and I am now an Account Manager for that agency…FOUR 😊

➜ What do you love most about working in PR?

The buzz and creativity. I love the pace, the people, the power of a well-crafted story. There’s something so rewarding about working with clients who are passionate about what they do — and helping them shout about it in a way that makes people sit up and listen.

➜ What are your favourite things to do outside of work?

When I’m not in PR mode, I’m all about making memories with my two amazing boys and my partner — they’re my real-life dream team. I’m an avid reader, although my Goodreads list can be as spicy as my margs. I love good food, better drinks (bonus points if there’s tequila involved), and soundtracking life with a LOT of Taylor Swift.
