Evolve Your Fitness. Andy Sutherland PT After sustaining a back injury a few years ago I developed a new way of training that concentrates on stability, strength and body function. It works!!!!

Welcome to Evolve Your Fitness. Over the last 12 years I have worked hard to develop a style of training that works the whole body as a single unit, enhancing coordination, strength and flexibility. Most conventional exercises and resistance machine work concentrate on linear or isolated movment patterns creating uncoordinated and unbalanced strength. Special attention is payed to increase the functional capacity of the spine resulting in a strong and well proportioned body which is significantly less prone to injury. This functional training has elements of injury re-hab techniques, prevention of injury is much better than fixing an injured body. Common sense really, after all prevention is always better than cure. About Me

I have worked in the fitness industry for fifteen years. I've worked with clients ranging from competitive atheletes to first time gym users. My style of training changed after I sustained a serious back injury six years ago. I developed the physio exercises that I had and sped up my recovery by many weeks, i realised that these exercises could be used to prevent injury.

Strength is pointless without balance and stability. Sadly ‘functional training’ is very unfashionable these days which is a shame as the science is very clear that balance and stability exercises along with resistance training is essential for people over 40.
Thanks to Jane for letting me film a clip of todays session, great work 💪

It’s great to be training clients face to face again this weekend! Hopefully the weather will stay good till gyms open up again, I’m guessing that’ll be some way off though. 😞
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who liked the posts that I’ve put up over the last couple of months. I really appreciate it!! A simple thumbs up makes such a difference when you’re trying to keep your business relevant in these crazy times. 👍🏼😊

Hi everyone, hope you’re all keeping well.
I was requested to make a cardio session to go with the resistance and core vids I’ve made.
Do all 5 exercises without rest and rest till you feel you can go again, build up the number of times you can get through it. Go for 15, 30 or 45 secs each exercise. If 45 sec is easy then you’re not trying hard enough!
Let me know how you get on.
Stay safe. A

Hey everyone, here’s the last part of the home resistance workout.
Mix and match some core, leg, chest, back, shoulder and arm exercises each time and do it 3 or 4 times per week.
Try and keep active on the days you’re not doing the workout, go for a walk/ run or have a wee jig about in the house to some decent tunes 🙂
Stay safe,
Andy.

Hope you’re all staying safe.
Here are some ideas for training your legs.
I did some core strength videos for you a few days ago, the plan is to mix and match a few of those with a few of these each day. There’s a video with a few ideas for upper body exercises coming soon so then you’ll have lots of options for getting a full body workout done.
I’d suggest experimenting with reps and sets, don’t go crazy at first!
Enjoy. A

More ideas to improve your core strength 👍🏼

Hey everyone, hope you’re all well and still keeping safe.
Here are a couple of videos that follow on from the stretch and rolling video I made last week. Good core strength is really important, and you don’t need any equipment to get good results.
Don’t do too much too soon, build up slowly please!

Hi everyone, hope you’re all keeping safe.
If you’re getting pack pain from all the sitting about that most of us are having to do these days then maybe give this a try. Try and do it every day along with some form of exercise.
Lots of problems for us all out there at the moment but hopefully a sore back won’t be one of them. A
