Hello All,
We have been made aware of some glitches in our ordering app.

Currently entering your postcode to select Slamannan Pharmacy isn't working but if you type in Slamannan it will find us there.

Also the option for delivery isn't listed and we are working to get this as an option for those patients who have a delivery service already.

Once fixed we will let you know.

Hello Slamannan, we have arrived 😊

We are delighted to be joining the Slamannan Community from today and look forward to welcoming you the same way that Ray has done for many years!

We have HUGEEEE shoes to fill taking over from Ray but we are up to see how we get on. Your new Pharmacists will be Amy (Mon-Weds) and Katherine (Weds-Sat) alongside the usual team of amazing support team.

Looking forward to supporting the community moving forward and please do pop in and say hello!

PS - Katherine is also a prescribing pharmacist so before looking for that GP appointment call in and see Katherine to see if she might be able to save a GP appointment.

We want to say a huge thank you to our wonderful patients, customers and colleagues that have been with us over the past 32 years.

It is with mixed emotions that we announce Ray Mackie will be retiring from the 1st of April and Slamannan Village Pharmacy will be left in the very capable hands of the central Scotland based group Right Medicine Pharmacy.

Ray purchased Slamannan in 1993 from 80 year old Pharmacist Tom Menzies. Ray modernised the pharmacy introducing a computer system, opening on Saturday mornings as well as no longer using the coal fire to destroy old medicines.

He built up the business by wholeheartedly
serving the local community and introducing a free delivery service reaching across Falkirk and the Braes. This included many late nights delivering oxygen cylinders, stocking first aid kits for the boats in Grangemouth and serving four nursing homes.

He soon had to expand the Pharmacy building into the old bank and employ a larger team with staff working alongside him for many of the last 32 years.

To this day Ray cares deeply for his patients often visiting housebound patients, giving advice and going the extra mile where possible.

He was a strong advocate for Community Pharmacy serving on many local healthcare committees and one of the pioneers of the Palliative Care Service in Forth Valley. In 2012 he was elected as the Scottish representative for the National Pharmacy Association alongside Noel Wicks, one of the founders of Right Medicine.

Ray went on to purchase five more Pharmacies across the UK. However Slamannan and the community it has served for over three decades has always held a special place in his heart.

Ray is looking forward to spending lots more time with his three young grandchildren, trips to the coast with his cocker spaniel Lexi and putting a few more miles on his electric bike.

Good Afternoon.
As most of you may have seen/heard this morning, the central belt of Scotland is expecting winds of up to 86mph tomorrow.
This has been classed a red weather warning ‼️

To ensure the safety of our delivery driver, we will only be delivering URGENT prescriptions, ie antibiotics. This is very much touch and go at the moment so this also may change.

We are planning on delivering most of Slamannan and Avonbridges compliance aids and weeklies this afternoon.

If you are able, we would really appreciate it if you could call in today to collect any prescriptions you are expecting to be delivered.

Please stay safe tomorrow and only travel if absolutely necessary.

Today marks the last working day of our fabulous pharmacist Gillian, after 33 years of loyal and dedicated service.

Gillian, you have worked tirelessly through all of these years and have always been the biggest cog in the pharmacy wheel, keeping us all running smoothly behind the scenes.

You have been instrumental in teaching (and raising) younger members of staff and making them the dispensers they are today.
We hope to all do you proud and continue your legacy of hard work and enthusiasm.

Gillian, on behalf of all of the staff in slamannan that you work with and have ever worked with, and I’m sure I can speak for the village too - we will miss you dearly.

Enjoy every moment of your retirement and have a few gins on us.
