Andrew Purves, COO of William Purves Funeral Directors, has been part of a working group advising the Scottish government on the introduction of water cremation.

Also known as hydrolysis, Scotland could be the first part of the UK to introduce this, following recent changes in legislation.

Featured in an article for The Sunday Times yesterday, Andrew discusses the process of hydrolysis and the benefits it could bring to families seeking the best way to say goodbye to their loved ones.

On Saturday, we took part in the Community Open Day at the Borders Crematorium in Melrose.

Our Borders team leader, Leslie Stewart, was on site to meet with members of the public and educate them on the funeral process.

It was also an opportunity to showcase our Land Rover Hearse, a popular choice for countryside families in the region.

At the end of last week, our CEO, Tim Purves (right), and COO, Andrew Purves (left), joined funeral directors from across the UK at this year’s National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) Conference in the Cotswolds.

As Scottish President of NAFD, Tim continues to represent funeral directors in Scotland at the highest level, supported by Andrew’s insight and perspective into key industry matters.

A highlight of the weekend was joining with our colleague Izabella Rennie (centre) to celebrate her graduation —she was officially awarded her Diploma in Funeral Directing (DipFD). Well done, Izabella, on reaching such a huge milestone, which is a testament to your dedication to serving families with care and professionalism.
