Always enjoy the opportunity to talk about the benefits of aromatherapy.

This afternoon I was invited to speak to students at West Lothian College about the power of aromatherapy. Sharing how scent can support emotional wellbeing, enhance treatments and deepen client connection felt a privilege. There’s something inspiring about being in a room full of people who are passionate about helping others feel their best.

Today began with a recap of the last 2 days, followed by a multiple choice test to anchor our knowledge. A moment to realise just how much we’ve absorbed: from safety and set-up to scent, steam and structure.

And then we stepped fully into it with the rest of the day dedicated to Aufguss rituals - bringing everything together in real time.

Greeting our guests, outlining our sessions.
Holding the space, creating and managing the löyly through ice balls, towel and fan techniques.
Layering in scent, sound and moments of meditation.

Each session was unique - shaped by our individual energy, creativity and rhythm.

There’s something incredibly powerful about guiding a room through heat, breath and release. About moving with intention. About creating a shared experience that helps people soften and reconnect. We closed the day with thoughtful feedback and Deborah handing out our certificates - a moment of celebration.

Day 2 of Sauna Master Training

Today we moved into scent as we began weaving in aromatherapy oils, resins & the ice balls. Learning how scent rises with the steam, how it shifts the energy in the room, how it can gently uplift or deeply ground.

Listening to the ice balls sizzling and melting over the stones, releasing waves of fragrance in layers rather than all at once. A beautiful reminder that sauna is a full sensory ritual.

And of course, more practical time in the sauna. More towel work. More confidence building. Rather unexpectedly, we also learned about the sauna elf aka the guardian of the sauna.

I’m loving how this training blends precision and intuition - science, soul and a sprinkling of magic.

Day 1 of Sauna Master Training with Deborah and I'm on a sauna high!

What a setting to begin this journey - Judith's beautiful over looking St Andrews Bay - sea air, space to breathe and the most incredible energy in the room.

I feel so grateful to be learning alongside such a brilliant group of people, guided by an inspiring teacher who blends tradition, precision and pure passion for the ritual of sauna.

Today was all about foundations:
Understanding the fundamentals
Safe sauna set-up
Respecting heat, space and energy
And receiving my very first Aufguss towel!

Learning those first towel techniques felt like stepping into a new rhythm - the flow, the intention, the movement of heat through space. Part performance, part meditation, part sensory experience.

There’s something so powerful about the combination of ritual, storytelling, scent & music. About creating moments that help people pause, breathe, release and reconnect.

This feels aligned. This feels exciting. This feels like the beginning of something very special.
