Mamadoula Daisy pregnancy and birth services

Mamadoula Daisy pregnancy and birth services Mamadoula supports women and their partners during pregnancy, through birth and into early parenting. I am happy to meet you to discuss your needs

I strongly believe in every woman's ability to know what is right for her and her baby and that, with support of her partner and/or a doula and access to information, she can birth her baby with grace, strength and passion. I have supported many women planning to birth after caesarean (VBAC) and those considered high risk.

This is a post in celebration of the humble and beautiful calendula. Is there ever such a thing as too much calendula for making healing salves, lotions and soothing balms? I don’t think so.

This plant has long been an ally for me and a firm favourite for my skin. My van, Cally, is even named after her (naturally, as she has the same colour and vibrancy). I am hugely grateful to for giving me these beauties from her allotment to dry and make delights from.

If you have a plant ally, what’s yours?

I love this post. The work of prep for birth is about SO much more than learning of your options, making a birth plan or finding additional support. It involves doing deeper work and learning about yourself, and how you hold and let go; something I cover in depth in my pregnancy yoga classes.

Shanti (Fiona) and I are very excited to share our upcoming doula preparation courses - in Edinburgh commencing in August this year and in Findhorn (Scottish Highlands) in Feb 2026.

After a combined 30 plus years of doula experience, working with families before, during and after birth, Daisy Dinwoodie and I are now inviting others to join them in honing the skills of supporting and being with birth.

The focus of the training is on discovering who we are and what we bring to this sacred work, in a time when birth is becoming increasingly medicalised. The opportunity for families to transform through this powerful rite of passage can be beautifully accompanied by our ways of being with birth, through embracing those we work with, and trusting their own knowing. This course is over three months with three weekends of contact during that time (see the link in the comments).

Feel free to be in touch with any questions or to book your place.

My pools are home and being cleaned- and I realise how lovely it would be to give birth in this forest room, my living room.

Instead, I’ll tidy up, light a fire, and give thanks for the sacred work I do.

This quote, by is exactly why this work is so important. It’s not “just” a satisfying birth, or to “get what you want” (although those are fine aims too) but to ALSO to have your child begin life as nature intended, in a room filled with love, respect and a beautiful welcome, surrounded by beloveds who feel capable, connected and transformed by the journey to this point, and hormonally/spiritually/emotionally/physically ready for what’s next.
Posted • What a weekend! What a cohort!!

This weekend was Orientation for Cohort 6, and words can not describe the container we have created.

220 women and 1 man, from all over the world, from different religions, backgrounds, races, cultures. We have everything from Maidens to Crones. Mothers to Midwives. There are nurses, herbalists, chiropractors, yoni steamers, house keepers, engineers, doulas, wise women… and so much more.

There is so much that makes each of us so very different, and yet there is a thread that brings us together. Sacred, undisturbed, transformational, physiologic birth.

We all love birth. We all honor mothers. We are all here to elevate the consciousness of birth, and therefore the world.

It is going to be an incredible year, and we are so excited to witness these women step into their community as the wise women they are becoming.

It’s been a VERY busy year so far, but now this doula is off call and loving being on the earth as much as possible- feeling grounded as I navigate life and all that I hold, cherish and nourish. Knowing what I am passionate about and what makes me feel ALIVE. Knowing what and how to let go. Knowing what my worth is and what I value. Knowing what truly matters. Feeling connected to it all.

I am 100% committed to others having the same opportunities for growth and belonging.

Leading singing monthly with a group of women in the woods is one of my greatest pleasures. I’m so glad the light has returned for us to be outdoors singing with the trees and around fire.

Do you remember the sound
of the hips that cracked
to birth you
echoing all the way back
to the First Mother?

The ten thousand secrets
whispered into your blood
by every woman
that came before you.

The blessings of your lineage;
how to know yourself
how to live a life
how to heal.

The burdens;
how to hold your tongue
how to carry your pain
how to pass it on.

You look just like your mother’s mother’s mother
when the sun hits your face
and her voice slips through your lips
when you stand firm-footed
and say;
I remember.

You look just like your daughter’s daughter’s daughter
when the moon reflects in your eyes
and her voice drips from your tongue
when you stand firm-footed
and say;
this ends with me.

Don’t you realize
that you can midwife your own birth
as often as you need to?

Listen closely
to the pulse of silence
in the deep velvet of your womb
until you hear a gentle voice
that whispers
‘this is the way.’
