Hello Everyone!
My name is Darek and I have always been extremely passionate about mountains and more generally hiking.
I also love to spend my free time with my family. My wife and two wonderful daughters are the most important to me in the world and I cannot imagine my life without them.
For this reason, I got an idea to combine my passion, respect to children and desire to help other children. I decided to undertake a walking challenge to raise funds for kids in need.
I support an organisation that helps terminally ill children in hospices -
Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).
CHAS provides the only hospice services in Scotland for children and young people who have life-shortening conditions for which there is no known cure.
CHAS runs two children’s hospices Rachel House in Kinross, Robin House in Balloch and a home care service called CHAS at Home.
You can find out more information about CHAS services at www.chas.org.uk.
Million of pounds are needed each year to provide those vital hospice services.
Every penny counts, so through my walking challenge I would like to help CHAS to raise funds as well as to help raise awareness about the vital work that CHAS provides to families across Scotland.
In September 2015 I will walk by myself across Scotland to raise funds for CHAS.
I will start my challenging trek from Thurso (the northernmost town on the British mainland) to Jedburgh (a town that is only 10 miles from the border with England).
It is about 320 miles and it will take me about 11 days.
During the walk I do not intend to use any comforts/facilities.
I will sleep in a tent and will buy food along the way.
I'm doing it selflessly and I hope that my actions will contribute to perceive the need to support children and their families in the hospices.
You will be able to track a progress of my tour by visiting my website soon at www.320milesforkids.co.uk .
Thank you for your support!
Darek
