Porteous Family Funeral Directors

Porteous Family Funeral Directors Porteous family Funeral Directors is one of the few remaining family-run, independent funeral direct Mark began his career in the funeral profession in 1989.

Porteous Family Funeral Directors was established by Mark Porteous. Since opening his first office in Juniper Green in 2006, the company’s reputation has grown through personal recommendation and we now also operate from a number of additional offices throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians. There are now two generations of the Porteous family in the company. Mark, his wife Yvonne and son Grant work with a dedicated team of staff, who between them have many years’ experience within the funeral profession. They are all committed to offering families the best possible service and take seriously their responsibilities of caring and helping families at a difficult time. Porteous Family Funeral Directors is a member of SAIF (National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors) and abide strictly by their Code of Practice. This gives our families reassurance that our standards of conduct are regulated and regularly monitored. Copies of the Code of Practice can be supplied in any branch. Porteous Family Funeral Directors is an appointed representative of Golden Charter Limited trading as Golden Charter Funeral Plans which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN:965279).

When arranging a funeral, the focus is rightly on creating a meaningful send-off for a loved one. But at Porteous Family Funeral Directors we believe that legacy can extend even further - right into the heart of our Edinburgh community.

Each year, we invest thousands of pounds in local groups and events, helping to nurture the neighbourhoods and institutions that make our city thrive.

This is a hidden benefit of choosing a local, family-run business, and you can read all about it in our latest blog.

The idea of community partnership is at the very heart of what we do at Porteous Family Funeral Directors. We believe in nurturing the vibrant, caring neighbourhoods we serve across Edinburgh.

Thank you to everyone who supported our Kiltwalk endeavours at the weekend. We're pleased to announce that the amount raised now stands at an amazing £1,223! This takes Ross' total for Prostate Cancer UK to more than £20,000 and still he's got another six months to go as SAIF independent funeral directors President. He's on course to raise a phenomenal amount for this important charity. Thank you again to all our supporters.

In Loving Memory of Janis May Livingstone

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janis May Livingstone, who passed away peacefully on 10th August at the Western General Hospital, aged 69.
Janis was born on 8th June 1956 in Edinburgh, a city she loved and called home throughout her life. She was the beloved wife of Alex, and a devoted mother to Shelley, John, and Scott. She was a much loved granny to Dean, Ella, Leah, John, and Mason, who brought immense pride and happiness into her life.
