Head Coach and owner of SMartPT Personal Trainers - Sebastian Maciejczyk. Hi, I'm Sebby and I specialise in weightlifting and barbell training. I will teach you how to lift safely and effectively whilst having fun with your training. My sessions are focused around the basic powerlifting exercises - squats, deadlifts, bench press and olympic weightlifting exercises - snatch, clean and jerk. I work (non exclusively) with 18-45 year old's who live a busy lifestyle and are willing to commit themselves to demanding, yet extremely beneficial training. Here at SMartPT Personal Trainers we are confident that we can create an enjoyable, rewarding and safe training environment. All abilities are welcome, whether you're just starting your journey in lifting or are looking to compete at national level, I'm here to coach you through the process. As well as weightlifting, many of my clients include HIIT training within their sessions. Depending on your goals, I can tailor sessions to your needs and combine different methods of training to maximise training results. This week, my client Neil didn’t hit a PB in the gym — he saved a man’s life 🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💪❤️

Proud Coach ☝️👏

After witnessing a serious crash just outside Edinburgh, Neil was first on the scene. The car had hit a tree, smoke was filling the car and the doors wouldn’t open. With seconds to spare, he forced his way in, twisted the driver free, and dragged him clear before the car burst into flames.

In his own words:
“I still don't know how I did it.... just imagined my coach speaking in my head.”

At the start of 2025, Neil asked me to help him recover from injuries (which were affecting his day to day life) and rebuild his strength. Neil trains consistently. He builds strength, control and resilience.

This is what strength training is really about.
Not just lifting heavier weights, not just numbers on the bar, not just gym performance. But being physically and mentally useful/prepared when life demands more of you.

Strength is a life skill.
Being strong gives you confidence to act when others can’t.
To help when seconds matter.
And sometimes, it makes the difference between tragedy and survival.

When 🇦🇺🏐🥇(a professional volleyball player, currently playing in Sweden) came to me this off-season, he had one clear goal - increase his Vertical Jump.

Through focused strength & conditioning, Olympic lift progressions, and jump-specific programming, we built not just vertical power — but total athletic performance.

His sessions are really well structured, with a strong focus on strength and conditioning, and he has really helped with my lifting techniqe as well.
