👉1.What is your role at Rifkind and Brophy?
I’m an Independent Prescribing (IP) Optometrist and Director at Rifkind and Brophy.
2. How long have you been working in optics?
It’s hard to believe when I say it out loud — 19 years! I’ve been at Rifkind and Brophy for nearly 11 of those, and an owner for the past 6.
3. What do you enjoy most about your job?
Consistency. I genuinely enjoy seeing patients return year after year — not just getting to know their eyes, but building real relationships. Those who know me know how passionate I am about eyecare and making every appointment thorough, personal, and clinically focused.
4. What’s your favorite part about working at an independent practice?
The freedom to put patient care first. We’re not driven by sales targets — it’s about delivering an experience that’s in line with our highly clinical values. I’ve worked hard to help shape Rifkind and Brophy into a practice that feels different from anywhere else, and our patients really appreciate that.
5. Do you have a favorite eyewear brand or style?
It honestly changes every week! I’m constantly impressed by the range of styles we have in practice — eyewear has the power to completely transform someone’s look. Personally, I love brands like Morel and WOOW for their style and quality.
6. What’s a fun fact about you?
When I’m not in the practice, you’ll either find me chasing a rugby ball or chasing my kids around on a family adventure. Both keep me on my toes!
7. If you weren’t in optics, what job would you be doing?
Probably property development. I’ve always had a real interest in it — building something from the ground up and making it work is something that really appeals to me.
8. What do you like to do in your free time?
Rugby, family time, and long walks on the beach with our dog Kevin — who has a lot more energy than I do!
9. Coffee or tea?
Coffee, definitely. Especially when the day starts early and finishes late!
10. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Honesty and integrity are everything. You can’t buy your reputation — you earn it
