The Power of the Yamas: A Roadmap to Peace 🌟

Lately, I’ve been revisiting the teachings of the YAMAS in my classes. This first limb of the 8 limbs of Ashtanga yoga, are universal moral principles—not just for Ashtanga yoga, but for all paths of yoga. These five ethical guidelines help us cultivate deeper connections with ourselves, others, and the divine.

Our sphere of influence—family, friends, daily interactions—may seem small, but practicing the Yamas within it can be our contribution to a more PEACEFUL WORLD because these moral principles and integrity create positive and peaceful ripples.

The change starts within—and spreads far beyond.

You don’t need a yoga mat to practice. Just a little awareness, and suddenly….the world feels softer.

Stay tuned as we explore each Yama in upcoming posts, with practical ways to weave them into everyday life. Together, let’s create ripples of positive change.

Inversions Aren’t One-Size-Fits-All 🤍

After my back injury, returning to Pincha Mayurasana (Forearm Stand) feels like reuniting with an old friend.

I held it for a few glorious seconds. Progress isn’t linear, but yoga reminds us: SHOWING UP is the practice.

Every inversion has an accessible entry point. Whether you’re rebuilding strength, working with fear, or simply need a restful flip, the practice meets you where you are—physically and mentally.

Your practice is yours alone—stay curios.

🕊️ Peace is a Practice

The world feels heavy lately. Between the noise outside and the storms within, it’s easy to feel unsteady.

But here’s what I keep returning to: Peace isn’t passive—it’s something we cultivate. Through small, daily choices. Through how we speak to ourselves. Through where we direct our energy.

For me, the practice looks like:
🌿 Pausing before reacting (refrain from pen and tongue).
🌿 Releasing what I can’t control (a lifelong lesson).
🌿 Choosing compassion—for others, and for my own stumbles.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about showing up, breath by breath, for the kind of world—and inner life—we wish to see.

We all deserve this peace. Let’s plant a seed of it today!
