This summer, our residents enjoyed a wonderful barge trip, kindly hosted by Seagull Trust Cruises - Ratho 🚤 The sun was shining, spirits were high, and there were plenty of smiles all round. One of our residents even had the chance to take the wheel and be skipper for the day - a real highlight of the outing. Days like these are what memories are made of.

Meet Patsy, one of our incredible team members who’s been with us since we opened in 2018. Recently, Patsy took a big step to help us deliver more efficient and flexible training in-house by completing an Advanced Food Hygiene Diploma.
With her new qualification, Patsy designed a bespoke, interactive training course tailored to Cramond Residence. She’s already delivered four full sessions, with every participant successfully earning their Elementary Food Hygiene Certificates - ensuring our food preparation meets the highest standards.
A huge well done and thank you to Patsy for her dedication and commitment to excellence. Thanks to her hard work, we can now offer vital training on-site and at short notice, keeping our Residents safe and well cared for. 👏 Find out more about dining at Cramond | https://bit.ly/4czsKbH

Meet Hugo the Harpist, who also plays the Cuatro and guitar when he visits Cramond Residence. 🎶 Our residents really enjoy humming and singing along to the music he plays, creating relaxing and happy moments together. Thank you, Hugo, for bringing such lovely music to our home.
🎨 We’re so proud to celebrate Resident Martin Birkhans, who recently unveiled his first-ever art exhibition, Sketches from a Wheelchair, at the age of 88! With encouragement from his daughters and support from our team, Martin transformed the challenges he faced into a new creative outlet, capturing the beauty of nature in his powerful paintings.
The exhibition in our cinema room was a joyful day full of conversation, connection, and admiration for Martin’s work. Seeing so many residents, friends, and family members come together to celebrate Martin’s talent was truly special.
Martin’s story reminds us all that it’s never too late to discover new passions. We’re honoured to support his artistic journey here at Cramond Residence, and we’re inspired by the joy and creativity he shares with everyone around him. 💛

🍽️ Earlier this year, 15 of our dedicated team members at Cramond Residence took part in The D.I.E.T. Course (Dining, Immersive, Experiential Training), gaining powerful insights into the challenges people with dementia may face during mealtimes.
Through this hands-on training, our staff learned practical ways to make dining more dementia-friendly - from using adaptive equipment and colour contrasts to thoughtful table settings and menu design. Most importantly, they experienced what it’s like to dine with dementia, deepening their understanding of how small, meaningful changes can make a big difference.
With these new skills, we’re even better equipped to create calm, enjoyable, and supportive mealtimes that help our Residents feel comfortable, respected, and well cared for. Find out more about dining at Cramond | https://bit.ly/4czsKbH

🚲 We’re thrilled to share how much our residents have been enjoying Joy Rides - a breath of fresh air with Lissa McIntyre. Since 2019, Joy Rides has been bringing smiles, fresh air, and unforgettable moments to care homes across Edinburgh - and we’re so glad to be part of it.
With the wonderful Betsy bike, our Residents can enjoy trips to places like Portobello Beach, Cramond Promenade, and The Meadows, feeling the wind in their hair and reconnecting with the outside world. These rides spark memories, inspire stories, and give everyone a chance to meet new faces along the way.
The physical and emotional benefits are huge, and we’re so grateful to Joy Rides for helping create such special experiences for our Residents. If you see us out and about, give us a wave! 👋
