How Covid-19 changed us:
COVID-19 fundamentally reshaped our vision for the Healing Therapy Centre. When we opened our doors in May 2019, we aimed to create a welcoming space for therapists and counsellors, one where they could truly feel the sense of community and where clients would find a supportive environment for their sessions.
I still recall the early days of my private practice, feeling isolated in the building I rented. It was a large space with various tenants, but none were therapists or counsellors. That sense of loneliness sparked the idea of establishing a place where therapists could work together in the same place, where the atmosphere would be stimulating and collaborative.
Meeting Tess in 2017 turned out to be a pivotal moment. I was searching for a workspace in Edinburgh, while Tess needed a place to store her art materials and tap into her creative skills. Our bond grew, and together we began to explore the idea of creating the Centre. When we finally received the keys to our office, we were overjoyed that our vision had transformed from mere thoughts into reality.
Counsellors were excited to see the space we created and eager to work from it. However, just a few months later, in March 2020, the pandemic brought new restrictions that left us heartbroken. The struggle to survive COVID-19 was challenging, but we persevered.
Two years later, as we reopened our doors, we noticed significant changes in the landscape of therapy practices. Many therapists and counsellors had transitioned to online work. Rather than closing down, we sought to adapt and grow. While our core vision remains intact, the types of practitioners we collaborate with have evolved.
Today, we welcome not only therapists, counsellors, and psychotherapists, but also hypnotherapists, massage therapists, and alternative therapy practitioners. If you’re looking for a space to rent and want to join our thriving community, we’d love to hear from you!
