We are delighted to welcome Julie Smith to our team at Corstorphine Dental Centre 😃

Julie graduated from Edinburgh in 1989 followed by a year as a House Officer at the Edinburgh Dental Hospital & School training in Restorative Dentistry and Oral surgery, before moving into General Practice In Edinburgh the following year.

Following a move to New Zealand in 1993 She completed a Diploma in Oral Medicine and tutored in Paediatric and Restorative Dentistry at the University of Otago Dental School. She also learned how to ski, kayak and sail all of which she enjoyed hugely.
Returning to Edinburgh in 1996 she returned to General Practice and continued studying, completing a Diploma in Homeopathy and a Masters in Forensic Dentistry.

She is happy to treat anxious and phobic patients and with additional training in paediatric dentistry, oral surgery, oral medicine and restorative dentistry happy to see a wide range. She has a particular interest in tooth wear and grinding, clenching and snoring splints.

CORSTORPHINE DENTAL CENTRE IS NOW OPEN FOR ROUTINE CARE

We are delighted to announce that we are open and able to provide routine care to our patients.

The Scottish Government guidelines with regards to COVID-19 only allow us to see a certain number of patients per day and priority will be given to emergency appointments for patients in pain. Any patients who wish to be seen for their routine examination or any routine treatment should call us on 0131 334 2524 where we will be more than happy to assist you.

We ask that patients do not attend the practice unless they have been allocated an appointment time.

WE ARE NOW OPEN FOR EMERGENCY CARE ONLY

We are delighted to announce that we are now open and able to provide some emergency care to our patients. Following the guidelines from the Scottish Government we are only allowed to provide emergency care that does not involve the use of dental aerosol.

We will continue to work closely with the Public Dental Service who can provide emergency care which requires dental aerosol and some other services which cannot be provided in practice due to COVID-19.

Any patients with any dental concerns should contact the practice on 0131 334 2524. We ask that our patients do not attend the practice unless they have been allocated an appointment time.

We are happy to announce that Corstorphine Dental Centre will be reopening soon.

You may have heard from the Scottish Government that dental practices will reopen on the 22nd June 2020, please note that NHS dental practices are not allowed to reopen until authorised by the local Health Board.

Following the guidance from the Scottish Government the initial opening of NHS dental practices in Scotland means that we will be able to see patients in the practice only for urgent/emergency care that does not involve the use of dental aerosol.

We will continue to work closely with the Public Dental Service who can provide urgent/emergency care which requires dental aerosol and some other services which cannot currently be provided in practice due to COVID-19.

We are awaiting confirmation from the Local Health Board on the exact date for reopening and we will communicate this date as soon as we receive it.

**IMPORTANT**

Following the updated guidance from the Scottish Government and the Chief Dental Officer with regards to COVID-19 all dental practices in Scotland are to remain closed and will provide telephone advice and assistance only.

If you have a dental emergency during working hours please call the practice and we will be able to assist you. For out of hours dental emergencies please call NHS 24 on 111.

*IMPORTANT*

As of today 18th March 2020 and following the updated guidance from the Scottish Government with regards to COVID-19 all dental practices in Scotland will be running a reduced service.

If you have symptoms of a new continuous cough or high temperature please DO NOT attend the dental practice and follow NHS guidelines for self-isolation. If you have a dental emergency during practice hours or outwith practice hours please call NHS 24 on 111 for assistance.

Patients over 70 years of age, those with underlying health conditions or pregnant patients should not attend the dental practice other than for a dental emergency.

Patients not in any of the vulnerable groups who have routine dental appointments will be contacted by the practice to be informed that we will be unable to provide treatments such as fillings, crowns, veneers, scaling, root canal treatments (unless required to alleviate pain) following the updated guidance from the Scottish Government. We would like to reassure you that we will be able to assist you in the case of a dental emergency during working hours. For out of hours dental emergencies please call NHS 24 on 111 for assistance.

As always we follow rigorous cross infection control procedures.

This is a difficult time for everyone but we have to follow these guidelines in order to protect our patients and staff.
