Portal Leith is part of the King’s Wark complex- a 400 year old building that sits on a site that is older still.

Starting out 600 years ago as a customs house and private royal armoury, the building has played host to historic figures like Mary of Guise and Anne of Denmark - who married James VI & I, and stayed here after the fateful journey to Scotland that precipitated the Scottish witch trials.

The site survived the Siege of Leith, rebuilds, and centuries of upheaval. It’s little wonder the energy within our magickal little shop is off the charts. We’re so proud to play a part in its long history 🖤

It’s our last full working week before the big day (and then a big break for us- we will be closing for about 3 weeks after Xmas 😴) so we’d love to see you! We are stocked up to the rafters with all the witchy essentials, treats and gifts you could ask for, including artisanal jewellery, prints, ceramics, crystals, candles, homeware, self care, tarot decks, magickal tools (and a whole load more!)

Phil of dropped off two more zines on Ghanaian folklore & traditions - these are such a fascinating read, and we highly recommend them.

And Lynne of dropped off a bunch of haunting treasures, including a worry ghost restock and - try to stay calm everyone - Lynne’s much anticipated tarot deck has arrived at Portal Leith!!!! We have a limited number available now, so grab one!
