Modern Buddhism is a special presentation of Buddha’s teachings designed especially for the people of the modern world. Its introduction into contemporary society has been pioneered by the world-renowned meditation master and scholar, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. It is a practical way of life based on wisdom and compassion that is open to everyone regardless of age, race, gender or faith.

💙Tomorrow - Special Workshop on the practice of the 35 Confession Buddhas🙏🏻

In this day retreat, Kadampa Teacher Chammy Sirisena will share teachings on a powerful practice for purifying obstacles of body, speech and mind.

We will learn how to visualise the Thirty-five Confession Buddhas, and what each one helps us to purify. We will also learn about special mental intentions to cultivate throughout the practice to purify our past negative actions and help us develop strong mindfulness in our daily life that we can use to work to counteract bad habits of body, speech and mind.

In the final session, there is the opportunity to be guided through the actual practice, including guidance on how to engage in physical prostration (if you wish to). In this way, we will apply what we have learned and leave with confidence in our ability to do the practice ourselves.

No experience is necessary; everybody is welcome. 💎

If you have been wondering where our Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Tubchen is at the moment, she is at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre in the Lake District, participating in the International Teacher Training Program (ITTP).

ITTP happens most years, and it's an opportunity for Resident Teachers to solely focus on their studies for a short time under the kind guidance of the Senior Teachers of the New Kadampa Tradition. This enables them to deepen their experience of Buddha's teachings then come back and share that experience with us. This is only possible through the kindness of our Founder and Spiritual Guide, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. ❤️

🧺🧘🏽‍♀️This Saturday - Walk, Meditation & Picnic in the Park🌞🕶️

After our Children's Workshop this Saturday morning we plan to make the most of the warmer weather.

Meeting at the Centre on Leith Walk at noon, we will take our time to enjoy the scenery, the park and great company, followed by a guided meditation with Kelsang Lhasang and a bring & share picnic, returning to the Centre late afternoon. This will be a great opportunity to meet our friendly community and enjoy the summer!

🤹‍♂️Looking for a peaceful but fun activity for your children this Saturday?👧🏼👦🏽

Come along to our Children's class 10-11.15am this Saturday afternoon. This workshop aims to help nurture positive qualities in children through child-centred discussions, games, crafts and short bite-sized meditations – all based around a Buddhist theme.

Children of all ages and temperaments can learn how meditation can help them to be calm, happy and mentally strong. They will enjoy creating and exploring a magical inner world that nourishes them and helps them to deal with difficult feelings, situations and relationships.

A parent or guardian must accompany the children at all times and they are welcome to join in with the meditations and activities. Suitable for children aged 5 to 10 years.

Please book in advance if you can: https://meditateinedinburgh.org/childrens-workshop/

Everyone is welcome 🥰
