We had the pleasure of hosting a morning event last weekend as part of demystifying death week.

Thanks to Pushing up the Daisies, a Scotland wide charity, who came to talk with our PF counsellors about how we might slow down when someone dies.

Slow Down When Someone Dies

Sat 9th May 10am - 11:30 am
8 Balcarres Street, Edin, EH10 5JB
Free

The days between someone's last breath and their funeral is a precious time. Slowing down to take in what has happened can help us access meaningful connection to the person who has died, the people close to us who are still living, and life itself. Keeping the person at home and caring for their body can very much help the grieving process for example.

Can traditional practices have a current relevance in assisting modern day society in dealing with the fragmentation of loss? Can ritual serve to ease transition from life to death and offer meaning and context in the face of grief?

Learn how slowing down when someone close to us takes their last breath can help us look after ourselves and each other.

Exciting shenanigans in the PF tonight! We have offered up our rooms to Edinburgh Napier students filming some scenes for their short film. See a short message below from our budding director below :)

"Hi, I’m Lukas Fury and I’m a fourth year Stage and Screen Acting Student at Edinburgh Napier from Dundee, Scotland.

The course at Napier wanted to create a pathway for people who have completed a HND in a related subject area a training course that was equal to the value of a traditional Conservatoire course.

I am making a short film called ‘Phantom’ which tackles themes of grief through the lens of a non-linear storyline. This project would not have been possible without the amazing work from Actual Factual who are on the team as Director of Photography and Producer as well as the generosity of PF Counselling from letting us use on of their rooms for a shooting location.”

Our Waiting List is now open for DAYTIME counselling with our one of our trainee counsellors. Most of available counselling times are daytime appointments at the moment. We are not accepting applications for evening only appointments.

PF is a small charity counselling service; we rely on client’s making donations towards the cost of their counselling sessions. We work with clients with a mild to moderate mental health issues. Our counsellors offer their time on a voluntary basis. They are either professionally qualified to at least diploma level, or in training with an accredited institution.

PF Counselling relies on your generous donations to keep our service accessible and affordable for all. Due to rising operational costs, we have introduced a suggested minimum donation structure, effective from 1 April 2025

The suggested donation structure will be:
Concessions & Students: £20.00
Income under £20K: £25.00
Income over £20K: £30.00
Income over £30K: £40.00
Income over £40K: £50.00

We offer high-quality counselling services through our skilled counsellors, making professional support accessible to those seeking help with life’s challenges. Whilst private counselling in Edinburgh typically costs £60 or more per session, we believe quality mental health support should be affordable.
