when you think about the practice of yoga, what comes to mind?

i’ve been practicing yoga asana for a long time, and only now am I beginning to understand the why.

Looking forward to summer, and the warmth and shift in prana that comes with that.🌞 Our yoga practice changes with the season too, the heat of the sun can inspire connection to agni and perhaps more dynamic movements and asana. The time of day we practice shifts, where we tend to roll out our mat earlier to be rising with the sun. 🌞 All acceptable, all understandable, all practice.

Join me for early morning practice twice a week .yogashala

Friday | 7am Vinyasa

Binds in our yoga practice - why? For so many different reasons, physically and spiritually.

Binding in yoga involves using our hands to hold other parts of the body to deepen postures. We bind to increase flexibility, build strength, create and enhance spinal rotation, and improve alignment.

This cultivates a deep focus and concentration for the mind and drishti, exploring patience (!) and creating a meditative, inward for the breath.

It becomes a spiritual practice as we beyond physical contortion, binds represent the union of mind, body, and spirit.

They are designed to symbolise the deeper yogic philosophy of our consciousness and connection with the divine. So strong, so powerful and a real challenge.

Look out for my upcoming workshop with exploring binds in our yoga practice in the Beyond the Shape study series.

What a magical month in Portugal assisting led by .maxine > completing our 200 hour Hatha vinyasa yoga teacher training.

Early morning practice, followed by silent breakfast.
Afternoons filled with
- yogic philosophy 📚
- anatomy workshops 🦴
- asana guidance 🤸‍♀️
- mantra 🕉️
- meditation 🧘🏼‍♀️
- sound healing 🔔
- walks in the Douro Valley 🍇
- wild swimming 🏊🏻‍♀️
and so much more.

If this calls to you, a yoga teacher training can be an amazing thing to do to deepen your own practice and dive into yogic philosophy. This on its own is an incredible thing to do, and maybe the idea of em teaching is a second thought.

Applications are open for Portugal 2026, check out the website for more details.
Congratulations to all our graduates from this years training, so well deserved.

Think you know your asana practice?
Try it at the wall. 💥

Using a wall for support in your hashtag practice isn't solely used for beginners, seniors, or those with reduced mobility. Using a wall can really help you find the stability and alignment within the postures. Adding a level of awareness, allowing you space to perhaps go a little deeper into the shape, find a bind, or simply use the wall as a support. ⬇️

Having just finished assisting on my first yoga teacher training (YTT) it really made me feel a sense of nostalgia for my own YTT so many years ago with Path Of Yoga School in Rishikesh, India.

An in person training is such a gift, held within a bubble of asana, philosophy, truths, presence and discipline. A curiosity and exploration of the Self. A shared experience with a group of strangers who very soon become a family.

If you’re considering a YTT, to deepen your own practice or perhaps to become a facilitator yourself - this is your sign to say yes to the calling. ✨
