It's the start of the lunar year and in the Chinese zodiac it's a Fire Horse year. According to astrologers, this means it’s a year for new beginnings, embracing change, and reaching out to others. This could be challenging or exciting! The last Fire Horse year was in 1966, when Glasgow Airport opened, the Old Man of Hoy was first climbed and the Bay City Rollers formed!

As osteopaths, we are required to keep up to date with emergency first aid. Mary attended a course at the weekend, learning about changes in regulations and updating her skills. Unusually, the trainers also talked about how to cope with the stress of offering first aid in real life - when you're outdoors, loved ones of the casualty are screaming at you in terror, bystanders are filming you on their phones and you don't know exactly where you are!

The playground for small children in George V Park across the road is closed for resurfacing. Looks like they are about to do the other playground too. Not that it's especially appealing on a dreich day!

The roadworks have just taken a few more parking places out of commission for the next couple of weeks. Least stressful option is the superstore round the corner, where you can park free for 3 hours.

There are roadworks and parking restrictions starting next week, affecting the roads around the practice - Eyre Place and Canon Street. Likely to continue for about 3 months while they do resurfacing. Happy New Year everyone!
