Open Studio for Older Adults and Carers

Join us for a gentle afternoon of art-making at CATS, created especially for older adults and their carers.

It’s a relaxed, welcoming space to slow down, breathe a little, and make something at your own pace.

You don’t need any art experience.
Just come as you are.

We’ll have simple materials to explore, along with tea, coffee, and biscuits to keep things cosy.

When: Saturday 7 December, 1:30 –3:30 pm
Where: Creative Arts Therapies Space (CATS), Edinburgh
Cost: £5–£10 (sliding scale)
Facilitated by: HCPC-Registered Art Psychotherapist Joey Chan

This is a community art wellbeing session, not art therapy. You can find our accessibility information in our website and on the events page when purchasing tickets.

Accessibility & Getting to CATS

We are reachable by public transport; Montgomery Street, Brunton Place and Abbeyhill stops are all within a 3–6 minute walk, and McDonald Road tram stop is about 12 minutes away.

Parking in the area is limited; Meadowbank Shopping Centre offers up to 4 hours free parking (10-minute walk).

Our building is ground floor, but the route to the therapy rooms includes two small steps. A ramp can be provided if needed.

Doorways/turning space limit access to 28 inches (71 cm), so the space is not wheelchair accessible.

If you need help planning your route, get in touch.

Full accessibility and transport details are listed in each event description.

We had the pleasure of welcoming members of the Scotland team into Creative Arts Therapies Space this week. 💛

This connection first began through an EVOC networking event and was furthered by their CEO Nick’s enthusiasm, curiousity and commitment to strengthening collaboration across our sector.

It was a joy to share more about the work we do at CATS, share the ins and outs of what we do through Art, Music and Dramatherapy and to hear about the inspiring initiatives Change Mental Health Scotland is leading to expand community access to mental health support.

We’re really looking forward to what’s ahead and to continuing to build connections that nurture creativity, collaboration, and collective wellbeing.
