My lunch time reading,

If you're interested to learn a bit more about "Mother Hunger" by Kelly McDaniel, it sheds light on the emotional wounds caused by unmet childhood needs for nurturance, protection, and guidance.

This book is a compassionate guide for adult daughters seeking to understand and heal from these deep-rooted struggles. McDaniel offers insights into how these experiences shape relationships and self-worth while providing practical tools for recovery.

It's been recommended to me by many people as a must-read for anyone exploring their relationship with their mother and the impact it has on their life and I truly understand why.

5⭐s from me so far (about half way)

Life’s a bit of a whirlwind right now, with loads of exciting things on the horizon—can’t wait to share it all with you! I’m busy planning, creating, and getting everything ready, and it’s got me buzzing (get it🐝) with energy. But with all the hustle, it’s easy to get a bit carried away. So here’s a little reminder (to myself too!) that even when things are full-on, it’s important to keep grounded. I have to keep reminding myself to do this before I get overwhelmed taking time out to breathe, step back, and look after ourselves means we can actually enjoy the good things ahead. Big things are coming, but so is the need to stay balanced. Here’s to the journey and making space for both excitement and calm.

This group is for those who may be feeling a bit lonely, anxious, or just in need of a space to connect with others. If you’re looking for a creative way to explore yourself, without the commitment of weekly therapy, this is the perfect space for you.

Each session will combine different art mediums, allowing you to express yourself through craft, while also incorporating therapeutic techniques like shadow work, grounding exercises, and mindfulness. It’s a relaxed environment where you can dip your toes into introspection while building meaningful connections with others.

To find out more go to the groups tab on my website.

Today is a big day—it’s my eldest’s 9th birthday, and it’s got me feeling all kinds of emotions. Looking at this picture of me as a two-year-old, I see the innocence, the potential, and the wonder that comes with childhood. It reminds me of how much life has changed since becoming a mum. Over the past nine years, I've grown, struggled, and learned more about myself than I ever thought possible. It’s surreal to think that once I was the child in this photo, and now I’m raising my own.

In counselling, we talk about how life stages shift our sense of identity, and becoming a parent is one of the biggest shifts of all. We often lose touch with parts of ourselves along the way, but we also gain so much. Today, I’m reflecting on how much I’ve grown, both as a mother and as a person. I’m learning to embrace all the changes, the chaos, and the beauty that comes with it.

Here’s to 9 years of motherhood, and to the little person who changed my world forever. 💛

Setting boundaries isn't selfish—it’s necessary. Whether it's with family, friends, or even your own expectations, healthy boundaries help protect your energy and mental well-being. They allow you to be the best version of yourself, both as a parent and as a person. Remember, saying 'no' sometimes is just another way of saying 'yes' to yourself.

Grounding exercises are one of the most powerful tools we have for managing stress and anxiety, especially in those overwhelming moments when everything feels like too much. Grounding techniques are all about bringing your awareness back to the present, reconnecting with your body, and calming your mind. Whether it’s through deep breathing, focusing on physical sensations, or engaging with your surroundings, grounding helps anchor you when life feels chaotic.

So why do we practice grounding? Because in a world that pulls us in a thousand directions, these exercises help us regain control over our emotions. They allow us to slow down, reset, and remind ourselves that we are safe in the present moment. When things get overwhelming, grounding can break the cycle of racing thoughts and help you feel more in tune with yourself.

Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, stress, or just need a moment of calm in your day, grounding exercises can be a game-changer. Next time you feel your mind spiraling, try simple techniques like focusing on your breath, touching an object with texture, or noticing five things you can see. These small actions can have a big impact on your mental well-being. 🧘‍♀️💫

A little bit of shameless self-promotion. This is my new flyer which I've designed. I never knew delving into this new career change would involve me managing to juggle so many hats. Mother. Therapist. Partner. Artist. Graphic designer. Social media sh*te person. SEO stuff. Advertising. It's a lot, and it's a lot like motherhood for many of us.

The amount of roles we take on as mums can be overwhelming—caretaker, chef, cleaner, teacher, chauffeur etc. We manage to keep so many balls in the air, often without giving ourselves credit for it. It's tough, exhausting, and sometimes, it feels like there’s no room to breathe. But we keep going, because we love our families, and we want to be everything they need. Just remember, it’s okay to drop a ball or two —what you’re doing is incredible, and you deserve to be proud of that.

If you find yourself dropping more balls that you can count, I'm here to help. Get in touch on my website to arrange a free 20min chat where we can find out if I'm the right therapist for you.
