Today is a big day—it’s my eldest’s 9th birthday, and it’s got me feeling all kinds of emotions. Looking at this picture of me as a two-year-old, I see the innocence, the potential, and the wonder that comes with childhood. It reminds me of how much life has changed since becoming a mum. Over the past nine years, I've grown, struggled, and learned more about myself than I ever thought possible. It’s surreal to think that once I was the child in this photo, and now I’m raising my own.
In counselling, we talk about how life stages shift our sense of identity, and becoming a parent is one of the biggest shifts of all. We often lose touch with parts of ourselves along the way, but we also gain so much. Today, I’m reflecting on how much I’ve grown, both as a mother and as a person. I’m learning to embrace all the changes, the chaos, and the beauty that comes with it.
Here’s to 9 years of motherhood, and to the little person who changed my world forever. 💛
