It doesn’t get much better than this 🙌

David came to me with severe sciatica caused by a disc herniation. He’d been virtually bed-ridden for months and was just days away from surgery.

Thankfully, a colleague urged him to get in touch.

We set about gently opening up his body and decompressing his spine. Within days, the improvement was enough to cancel the surgery - and he hasn’t looked back since.

So often, people worry that they shouldn’t practise when they’re in pain - but pain is the cue that you need to!

Take it gently, be brave, and give your body the attention it’s asking for. 💫

We’re often taught to override pain - to push through it or suppress it. But pain isn’t a flaw. It’s a form of feedback from the nervous system, signalling that something in our movement, loading, or tension patterns needs attention.

Discomfort is often the first sign that the body is compensating or working inefficiently.

It may be asking you to:
🌿 Slow down
🌿 Reassess how you’re moving or bearing load
🌿 Notice where you’re gripping, collapsing, or bracing unnecessarily

In this work, we don’t chase symptoms, we restore function by improving breath, spinal support, and deep muscular coordination.

When we address the root cause, the body can adapt and recover.

We are nearly there with the new website and I cannot wait to share it with you all! Stay tuned!

I’ve had a great week of teaching where I’ve been exploring combining the somatic release technique of ‘pandiculation’ with Foundation Training.

This technique teaches the brain to let go of held tension which then allows us to get deeper in the FT exercises. My clients have really felt the difference, reflecting that identifying the feeling of letting go, as opposed to cognitively instructing it, is much more effective.

I’ve seen the difference too - a new ability to let the shoulders hang, relax the lower back and release the hips!

I’m looking forward to exploring this further with you all 🧡

Exciting news - I will soon be launching a complete rebrand of the business. Welcome to with Mora 🌀

This has been a long time coming. It’s time to step out on my own with the freedom to follow the threads that pique my interest.⁣

To be clear, this is not a step away from Foundation Training. It is still at the heart of my teaching and will always be the method that gave me my body back in the mid 20s. But this rebrand reflects the way my practice is expanding and I’m excited to see where it takes me.

Here’s a little peek at the new logo - inspired by the idea of unwinding and returning to our natural form.

I just had an amazing few days working with ex-Grand Prix motocross athlete 🏍️, who traveled all the way from Southeast England to Edinburgh for a two-day intensive with me!

Aston had heard about through a motocross podcast, where top athletes in the US were talking about how it dramatically improved their technique.

In just two days, we dove deep into the principles and exercises of Foundation Training, focusing on how they work to enhance strength, mobility, control and balance - it was very cool to learn how well it ties in to motocross technique! Aston was a true pro—enthusiastic, focused, and an absolute pleasure to work with.

Intensive sessions like Aston’s offer a focused, immersive approach to learning. Tailored to your needs, they deliver fast, effective results—perfect if you’re an athlete or just looking to learn more about your body and movement.

Mora McGovern was the first Certified Foundation Training Instructor in Scotland completing her training in New York in October 2015. In September 2017 Kat Ross traveled to Santa Barbara to complete her training, followed by Isla Wilson who traveled to New York in October 2017 to join the large, and growing, team of Foundation Training Instructors worldwide.

They are now working together as Foundation Training Instructors Scotland and are all based in and around Aberdeen providing private and group sessions. They plan to spread the word of Foundation Training through multiple workshops countrywide in 2018, whilst continuing to successfully teach their clients how to strengthen their bodies, eliminate pain and avoid injury.
