Our First Aid Courses are delivered with Major Bleed Control Training as standard.

Catastrophic bleeding kills patients within minutes and needs immediate intervention. 999 services may take too long and therefore more people who are trained in controlling major bleeds are needed to save lives.

We will start to see Major Bleed Kits in venues as standard with the rollout of Martyns Law and therefore having confidence to use them in a life threatening emergency is paramount.

If you're interested in booking an accredited HSE First Aid Course or a stop the bleed session with us, just get in contact.

Busy day at Rescue Med, teaching the FREC 3 course.

Today we were breaking down:
External respiration,
Diffusion of O2 & CO2 in the lungs for blood re-oxygenation,
The mechanism of breathing,
The cardiac cycle & pulmonary / systemic circulation.
And Out of hospital Cardiac Arrest.

Understanding the anatomy and physiology behind the signs and symptoms are important for effective decision making and capability of applying the fundamentals to patient management.

Because when something goes wrong in the real world, there’s no checklist on the wall.
Just you, the patient, and your ability to think.

Good group on the course today. Some really solid questions and discussion.

One of the areas many learners struggle with when progressing to FREC 4 is ECG interpretation.

Understanding ECGs isn’t something that usually clicks straight away. It takes time, repetition and seeing lots of different traces before the patterns start to make sense.
To help with this, we’ve built some additional learning resources at Rescue Med.

The first is a simple ECG practice workbook. Learners look at the ECG trace, decide what they think the rhythm is, then turn the page to check the answer. It’s a straightforward way to practise rhythm recognition and build confidence.

Alongside this, we’ve also developed an Introduction to Electrocardiograms e-learning module which forms part of the 20 hours of pre-learning our FREC 4 students receive before attending the course.
The aim is that learners arrive with a basic understanding of how ECGs work and how to approach interpretation. That way we can spend more time applying the knowledge during the course rather than starting from zero.

Supporting students properly and giving them tools to learn outside the classroom is something we believe makes a real difference.

Join us on our next Introduction to ECGs course April 30th or take advantage of our FREC 4 eLearning 20hrs CPD modules independently.

We're passionate about supporting student paramedics and other pre-hospital professionals to get properly qualified within the FREC framework.

Having that qualification opens doors. It allows you to gain real patient contact at events and earn while you continue developing, rather than waiting on opportunities to appear.

The 2-day FREC 3 RPL route on 19–20 March is designed for those who already have experience and want to formalise it properly.

If you’re ready to invest in your development and take that next step, join us in March.
