⭐️ Did you know fear of failure can often be, at its core, a hidden fear of success?

Often we may say & believe we’re afraid of failure, of making mistakes, of looking foolish…. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yet behind these fears, ultimately it feels UNSAFE to be successful.

💥 To go for the promotion
💥 Apply for a new job
💥 Talk on stage
💥 Try the new thing

Success can feel scary! 😧

Your subconscious mind is designed to keep you safe.

That means avoiding risk, staying in your comfort zone. 🚫

When you consider stepping out of your comfort zone & trying something new up come the signals saying loudly:

🛑 DON’T DO THIS - IT’S NOT SAFE! 🛑

And your subconscious tries to pull you back to your comfort zone where it’s safe & predictable.

Even when the new thing you’re aiming for is something WONDERFUL!

Instead you end up feeling stuck, not going for your goals. ❌

Do you ever stop to notice if the comments are helpful?

Often that running commentary can be unhelpful & negative.

❓How would you feel if that inner chat was broadcast to the world?

❓ Would you talk to someone you love the way you speak to yourself at times?

❓ Do you analyse what others say more than you check in with your own commentary?

Your inner chat impacts how you feel & act - it’s super powerful.

1️⃣ First step is to tune in & notice
2️⃣ Then decide whether to accept it or not
3️⃣ Choose to change the narrative
4️⃣ And that shifts how you feel

You weren’t born with a set inner narrative, you’ve learned it over time.

And anything learned can be unlearned!

That’s the most wonderful feedback to get from a coaching client. 🙌

Learning to trust yourself is so important.

You can look outside for validation, seeking everyone else’s opinions & yet you ultimately know what’s best for you.

Deep down you know the answers, you know what’s right for you. ✅

You know YOU, better than anyone.

Connecting with that sense of knowing is easy to lose touch with.

⭐️ I was talking earlier to a client about looking for the glimmers of joy. Because what we focus on grows.

Our brains are naturally wired to look for the risks & things that could go wrong.

They can skip over the good things which pose no threat.

Making a conscious effort to notice things you’re grateful for shifts your perspective.

And the more you spot the little things that bring you joy, the more you start noticing.

Today I’m appreciating

☀️ sunshine between the showers
🌸 nature in full bloom
🐈 affection from our cat
🥰 clients having big shifts

If you look hard enough there is always lots to appreciate. 💕

⭐️ Do you hear yourself saying ‘Yes, but ...’ or ‘What if ...?’❓

These two statements can hold you back from your dreams, from ideas, from taking inspired action.

‘Yes, but ...’ is often a head over heart reaction, your intuition has come up with an idea, ‘YESSS!’ 🙌

Almost at once the loud inner voice starts listing all the reasons it might not work.

Suddenly you’re focused on the ‘BUT...‘ s imagining all the potential issues & blockers. 🛑

‘What if...?’ Again you’ve had a brilliant idea.

Your mind then kicks in & starts to list all the things that could go wrong ❌

What if I fail / look stupid / it all goes wrong? …. before you know it you’ve talked yourself out of the idea.

The purpose of your brain is to keep you safe. 🧠

That means avoiding anything with an element of risk, it’s doing it’s job protecting you.

Once you’re aware of what’s happening, you can choose differently. 💫

Notice what your inner voice is saying - is it helping you move forward or holding you where you are? Question it.❓

Consciously replace ‘Yes, but ...’ with ‘Yes, AND .... ‘. This challenges your mind to come up with solutions. 💡

Reframe ‘What if....’ doubting statements with positive outcomes …. ‘What if it all works out?’ 👍

Take action to move you forward. ⏩️

Dare to dream big, take a chance, try it, because your potential is limitless! ⭐️

⭐️ Happy May Day - a fresh new month full of possibility. (It’s come round fast though, not sure how it’s the second third of the year already?! )

🌸 spring flowers
☀️ longer, lighter days
🔥 barbecues
🌳 walks in nature
🌊 trips to the beach

⭐️ Absolutely my favourite time of year in the Meadows, Edinburgh - the cherry blossom is stunning! 🌸

There’s something so energising right now - can you feel it? 💥

Spring is springing and there’s new life all around. 🌳

It’s a great time to set intentions. 🎯

Why not take some time to reflect - it could be while out walking! 🚶‍♀️

❓Where do you want to be in 6 months?

❓What would you like to have or be doing differently by the end of October?

❓Imagine it - how will it feel, what will you be doing, what will you see?

❓What’s one action you can take today to move you forward towards this?

And go do it! 👍

Tuning in regularly with that future image of how you want things to be is powerful. 💫

The more you see and feel it, the more you’re motivated to take action to make it happen. ✅

And magic can happen! 🌟

Lots of new approaches & ways to support clients’ growth & expansion.

And lovely to meet up in person in Manchester with the many fab people on the course.

⭐️ I see you …. the woman who feels disconnected, out of sorts.

Who feels she:

‘should’ feel happier
‘should’ be enjoying her life more
‘should’ feel grateful for all she has

Yet is exhausted trying to juggle it all, work, family commitments, the endless to do list.

Striving to be the best partner, parent, daughter, sister, friend, colleague, boss.

Trying to please everyone.

But feeling like she’s not doing well enough at any of it.

Running to stand still.

Fearful that at any minute everything could come crashing down around her.

She’s lost touch with who she is.

Lost sight of her values & boundaries & is bottom of her list of priorities.

Listening to that loud inner critic that tells her she’s a mess & not good enough & is going to get found out.
