We had a lovely trip out to Dalkeith Country Park with some of our residents 🌿

Despite the weather being a little on the cloudy side, it didn’t stop us from enjoying some fresh air and a packed lunch outdoors 🥪☁️ There’s something special about getting out and about, even when the sun decides to play hide and seek!

Most importantly, there were plenty of smiles and laughter all around — a great day enjoyed by everyone 💚

After a long wait (and lots of eager anticipation), Anna and Bailey, our much-loved therapy duo, finally returned to visit the home—and what a reunion it was!
Bailey hasn’t been with us since last year, so you can imagine the excitement when her wagging tail appeared. Smiles lit up the room, hands reached out for cuddles, and before long she was making her rounds, spreading comfort, joy, and a little bit of doggy magic to everyone she met.
From gentle pats to cheerful chats, it was clear just how much Bailey had been missed. Residents and staff alike had a truly wonderful time, and the atmosphere was full of warmth, laughter, and happy memories in the making.

We had a bellissimo time today! 🇮🇹✨
Gia from Lingo Flamingo came along to teach some of our residents a few Italian phrases, and what a joy it was! There were smiles, laughter, and plenty of enthusiastic attempts at rolling those “r’s” 😄
Everyone managed to pick up a few words (molto bene! 👏), and they’ve each got a wee learning book to keep practicing and showing off their new skills.
It’s safe to say it was a fantastic session, full of fun and great energy. We think they absolutely loved it… and we’re already hoping to welcome Gia back again soon for another adventure in language! 💬

What a lovely and enriching day we’ve had here at the care home! 🖌✨
We were delighted to host a very special Japanese calligraphy workshop led by the talented Mare, a licensed calligrapher from Japan, who works under the name Wayfarer Shodo Edinburgh.
Eight of our residents took part in this unique session, and it was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and enjoying the experience. Mare introduced the beautiful meanings behind Sakura (cherry blossom) and Daruma, two traditional Japanese symbols associated with wellbeing, good fortune, and dreams coming true. 🌸🎎
The workshop brought a sense of calm, creativity, and cultural connection to the day, and it was truly heartwarming to see our residents embrace something new and meaningful. We hope the spirit of Sakura and Daruma brings a little extra joy, health, and positivity to everyone involved. 💖
A big thank you to Mare for sharing such a special experience with us—it certainly brightened our day! ✨

What a fantastic day we’ve had here at the care home! 🎉
We were delighted to welcome a new singer, Roddy, who truly brought the place to life. He has a wonderful voice and created such a warm, lively atmosphere. There was plenty of toe tapping, singing along, and lots of smiles all around as he interacted so beautifully with our residents. It’s safe to say he was a big hit, and everyone had a brilliant time! 🎶
Earlier in the day, we also enjoyed some excitement with our Grand National sweepstake – lots of fun, a bit of friendly competition, and a few lucky winners too! 🐎
On top of all that, we celebrated a very special birthday – Happy Birthday to Betty! 🎂 We hope you had a lovely day celebrating with everyone.

We had a fantastic visit from Danny Feelgood here at the care home, and what a brilliant afternoon it was! 🎶
Danny had everyone smiling, singing along, and even up dancing. He performed a wonderful mix of songs that all our residents knew and loved, creating such a warm and lively atmosphere throughout the home.
It was lovely to see how he interacted with everyone, making each resident feel included and part of the fun. The joy in the room said it all — everyone had an amazing time!
We’re already looking forward to welcoming Danny back again soon. Thank you for such a memorable visit! 💃🕺

Happy Easter to all our wonderful friends, families, and community from everyone here at St. Margaret’s Care Home! 🐣🌷
We’ve had such a joyful and activity-filled Easter celebration this year. Our residents got wonderfully creative with arts and crafts. There were smiles all around as we handed out Easter treats, spreading a little extra sweetness throughout the home 🍫💛
We also took time to reflect on the meaning of Easter with a special Bible story, sharing the powerful moment of Jesus rolling away the stone. It was a lovely time of togetherness and reflection.🌸🐰
We hope you all had a fantastic Easter too!

Today we wrapped up warm and headed off on a lovely little trip to the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh 🌸
Now… the Scottish weather tried its best to keep us on our toes (a bit dreich, we won’t lie! ☁️💨), but that didn’t stop us getting out for a good wander round the park. We even spotted some ducks along the way 🦆—always a crowd favourite!
The flowers might not have been in full bloom just yet, but there’s still something special about fresh air, good company, and stretching the legs 🌿💚
To top it all off, we treated ourselves to a cosy stop in the upstairs café for some hot chocolates and coffees ☕🍫—the perfect way to warm up and relax together.
All in all, a brilliant day out full of smiles, chats, and a breath of fresh air! 🌈

We were delighted to welcome Alison Gourlay back to sing for us once again. It was such a lovely afternoon, with plenty of singing along, clapping, and even a bit of dancing!
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and it’s always a pleasure having her with us. We’re already looking forward to her next visit and more of the great times she brings.

Today’s arts & crafts session turned into a full-on character creation studio 🎨✨
We mixed a little imagination with a dash of mischief and added our own faces from photos…
From stylish masterpieces to funfilled creations, every single one had personality.
The best part? The laughter. Residents had a brilliant time getting creative, and you could see how proud everyone was of what they made. Safe to say, we’ve got some serious artistic talent in the building 👏
We might have started with photos… but we ended up with legends! 🌟
