It should come as no surprise then, that as a foundational component of Classical Pilates, footwork helps to strengthen and lift the muscles of the arches of the feet into the midline of the body, back of the legs, activating our powerhouse muscles. Without footwork, you are missing a vital part of the puzzle.

Footwork involves a series of exercises that target the muscles in the feet, ankles, and legs, engaging muscles in the lower body, such as the calves, hamstrings, quadriceps, glutes, and intrinsic muscles of the feet. The exercises typically involve a combination of pushing, pulling, and pressing movements using the foot bar or resistance bands. This helps to strengthen and tone the muscles, leading to improved overall lower body.

This 4-week course is designed for beginners and those new to Pilates or those looking to restart Pilates after a long absence. We will cover the basic principles of Pilates and help you develop an understanding of the method. These sessions are designed for 3 people maximum, and it will involve working on the Pilates apparatus: a combination of Towers, Mat, Magic Circle, Pre-Pilates and Standing exercises from the classical Pilates syllabus.

Conquer Gravity is a great way to burn up to 15% more calories per session than other forms of exercise and take your fitness to the next level.

Designed using principles of Pilates, calisthenics and suspension training to develop inner core, functional strength and improve flexibility, Conquer Gravity classes will enable you to master your body, making you stronger and more confident in every facet of your life, physically and mentally.

Get ready to conquer!

The classes run every Monday at 7:45pm – 8:45pm at the Baptist Church Hall, Portobello High Street.

Advanced four-week block booking is essential to ensure sustainability and results.
You can join at at any point within a block if there are spaces.

Classes have a maximum of 12 participants due to the level of guidance and coaching required.

This guidance is tailored to all levels (novice to advanced) and you don’t need to be a Pilates expert to have a go! If you have attended bootcamp/metafit/Insanity fitness/circuits then this will be right up your street. Make-up class is also offered depending on availability and personal circumstances.
