Get rid of those weighing scales!
For alot of people these can be triggering for various reasons!
Even today there is a lot of pressure on people and more so young women in regards to body image and associating weight loss with having a good figure.
If you are that person who looks at a scale and comes over with dread worrying about what the scales may say. It may be wise to go speak to a doctor or go and see a councillor/specialist to help with dealing with any past experiences.
I have had quite a few clients over the years who have a bad relationship with the scales and we have instead focused on how clothes fit, how they feel within themselves, how strong they are, their stress levels, their sleep and more.
We have taken a weight so I can workout calorie numbers so we can learn about portion control and the importance of protein, carbs and fats.
Our self worth should not be based on the scales!
We may even gain a bit of weight and loose inches around our bodies (loss of fat, built some muscles) but the fact that the scales says otherwise is the end of the world and see failure. We worry about what people think about how we look.
As clothes sizes do not care about weight.
There are so many different ways to show progress:
How much BETTER do those clothes fit.
How much ENERGY do you have now,
How much STRONGER are you you,
How much more SOCIAL are you,
How much more MOBILE and FLEXIBLE are you,
How much has your handling of STRESS improved,
How much do you ENJOY good food.
How much more do you UNDERSTAND about NUTRITION.
How much BETTER do you feel about knowing how and WHAT to eat.

I do recognise that there are people whom are happy to weigh themselves everyday to track their weight. They are at a stage where they understand that weight is not linear and putting on a pound or 2 or their weight may not have shifted for a period of time is not the end of the world.

It's all about identifying and understanding your clients - to be adaptable and knowledgeable about the best way to move forward with them.
We need to help educate people in how to be healthy.
So get rid of the scale and enjoy.
