Get rid of those weighing scales!

For alot of people these can be triggering for various reasons!

Even today there is a lot of pressure on people and more so young women in regards to body image and associating weight loss with having a good figure.

If you are that person who looks at a scale and comes over with dread worrying about what the scales may say. It may be wise to go speak to a doctor or go and see a councillor/specialist to help with dealing with any past experiences.

I have had quite a few clients over the years who have a bad relationship with the scales and we have instead focused on how clothes fit, how they feel within themselves, how strong they are, their stress levels, their sleep and more.

We have taken a weight so I can workout calorie numbers so we can learn about portion control and the importance of protein, carbs and fats.

Our self worth should not be based on the scales!

We may even gain a bit of weight and loose inches around our bodies (loss of fat, built some muscles) but the fact that the scales says otherwise is the end of the world and see failure. We worry about what people think about how we look.

As clothes sizes do not care about weight.

There are so many different ways to show progress:

How much BETTER do those clothes fit.
How much ENERGY do you have now,
How much STRONGER are you you,
How much more SOCIAL are you,
How much more MOBILE and FLEXIBLE are you,
How much has your handling of STRESS improved,
How much do you ENJOY good food.
How much more do you UNDERSTAND about NUTRITION.
How much BETTER do you feel about knowing how and WHAT to eat.

I do recognise that there are people whom are happy to weigh themselves everyday to track their weight. They are at a stage where they understand that weight is not linear and putting on a pound or 2 or their weight may not have shifted for a period of time is not the end of the world.

It's all about identifying and understanding your clients - to be adaptable and knowledgeable about the best way to move forward with them.

We need to help educate people in how to be healthy.

So get rid of the scale and enjoy.

This may sound silly but how many of you leave a massive pile of things to clean after you have cooked!

Why not instead be smart and clean as you go:

Keep your cooking area clean as much as possible,
Put away what you don't need,
If you know your timings - clean bits inbetween.

It's really helps me to cook and allows me chill quicker when I am home after making some MasterChef meal ;)

How often do you cook better yet do you know how to cook?

I was awful back in my days at school - I couldn't understand how to cook, it baffled me.

Over the years being a personal trainer and for just enjoying food - I have been able to learn about what in our food and to have fun with cooking.

By no means I am no Gordon Ramsey more Blumenthal lol. I end grabbing random bits and putting it together.

Understanding what is in our food can help in our decisions in what we eat and how it effects us.

It will be great to teach Arthur how to cook and understand about food when he is able to. To help him save money, learn and become the next MasterChef!

Last night's dinner becomes this morning's breakfast.

Dinner was - noodles in chicken broth with Turkey X2 eggs, avocado and salad.

Breakfast the same but no noodles and a poached egg.

Difference is the salad bits for dinner was cooked in ginger, garlic. This morning's was not cooked just nice and cold with a poached egg added.

Regardless of being a sportsperson - have you thought about a sports massage?

Through various techniques you can be leaving more relaxed, even sleepy(I have had a few people fall asleep during a treatment).

Massaging opposite muscle groups, I stretch you out about to help you with your mobility. Give you some exercise advice to help strengthen up weak areas.

She is cracking on nicely with this!

We had a very indepth conversation about:

- Personal history as this will play a big factor in how we track certain metrics.

- Worked out calories to work towards.

- Sporting history and what she is looking to prioritise when term starts again and her team start to train again.

- Made a Push/Pull/legs programme with some additional cardio sessions she can do - not too strenuous.
